Topic of the Day: Holiday Letters
I don't know if this is really a good topic of the day so if someone things of something else, go for it.
But, I was wondering if anyone else does holiday/Christmas letters? If so, do you send pictures or anything else with it? Who do you send it to?

Re: Topic of the Day: Holiday Letters
My mom has always done them and most of our family and a lot of her friends do them. I've always enjoyed reading them and learning what happend to people we don't really keep in touch with except through these letters. I also like seeing the pictures and see all the kids grow up.
I'm doing one this year for the first time! I thought since DH and I are now officially a family it would be a good time to start. I did a photo card through snapfish and they should be arriving next week. I'm doing them early because of our change of address. I'm going to base the list off of our guest list but cut it down some.

I've done a letter every year for the past few years except last year. Christmas kinda snuck up on me! I'm determined that it won't this year. We are doing pictures in a card and a letter I hope. And we are basing out Christmas card list off our guest list as well. I kept saying to MH during the wedding planning that we were going to have a kick a$$ Christmas card list this year!
You've inspired me that I should start these sooner rather than later!
I'm going to fill in the blank.
Holiday letters are: FREAKNIN' AWESOME!!!!
I love holiday letters!!! I usually write my parents' for them and probably will this year. For theirs, I'd write a summary of the year, then a few lines about each of us [parents, siblings, myself and we put Brett in last years]. On the back, we'd print a collage of various photos. This year, I'm not sure if Brett & I will do one, I'd like to, but not sure. Next year deffiantly though. I probably could this year. We got married and bought a house and got a cat. Yeah, I think I will LOL. Thanks for the motivation do do two of them

I had never heard of one of these until last Christmas we got 2. 1 for H's uncle and one from a couple who got married earlier that year.
I think we are just going to stick with Christmas cards. We are going to have someone take a photo of us with the dogs for the card. I think we are also going to stick a photo from the wedding in there for everyone.

Neither of our families ever did holiday letters and we probably won't either. We already did photo Christmas cards from Snapfish that are adorable! It is a picture of us smiling huge and dancing at the wedding and the card reads "happy happy holidays." We love it.
The holiday letter can definitely be fun and I always enjoyed receiving them. However, I will say that some of them are WAY over the top and we end up laughing at (but sometimes with) them. Done well, it can be a fun way to catch up on people who you don't see often.
Because our wedding was smaller, we will send cards to the guest list as well as a few more extended family members.
