We had a half day of school today, it is kind of nice! The wind is picking up here in Slidell, the local news just said we have 20mph winds right now. They're expecting us to have power outages, rain, and wind. So, not too bad. I am hoping the sucker doesn't shift, like they're known to do.
Re: Half day of school
Yeah, the wind isn't even blowing here. It's overcast though.
Have fun on your afternoon off!
How's the house/unpacking/painting coming?
I am almost done unpacking. I hate having boxes full of stuff. So I will be trying to finish that today.
David and his dad have done some electrical work, nothing major, just changing out old light switches and outlets, and adding another GFCI outlet in the bathroom for me. They also installed a new hanging light outside in the patio, and fixed/replaced the motion sensor lights.
We changed all of the locks the first or second night here.
We painted over the pink (yay!). Last weekend David primed, this weekend he painted. We did a light, kind of sage green paint ("Belle Grove Moss").
This coming weekend, we will be putting up the beadboard, and hopefully we will also get to do the cap moulding and the shoe moulding on the top and bottom of the wainscot beadboard. It will be painted a nice bright white color.
My MIL and I are also working on refinishing and reupholstering some dining room chairs. They're starting to look really good.
I have lots of before/after pictures, I just need to upload them for you guys to see.
Wow, you guys got a lot done! I can't wait to see it all.
What brand of paint is that color? I'd like to look it up. We are currently in the Great Paint Debate of 2009 for the nursery. I'm taking all the help I can get.
We're huge fans of Valspar. You can't beat the quality for the price. We painted a patch on the wall this weekend of Apple Tree but it was really light. So Mr. Shoe went and picked up a sample can of Leafy something this morning. If that doesn't work, I'll have to look into the color you mentioned.
Thanks!
Is it Leafy Rise?
We got a sample of that one too, and Brisk Olive.
Leafty Rise had WAY more blue in it than we wanted, and Brisk Olive was just too olive for what we needed. Belle Grove Moss was a perfect match for us.
I really like the Valspar paint too, and it has No/Low VOCs, so I am able to help paint (although D doesn't want me too).
I don't think it's Leafy Rise. The name was longer than that.
Your bedding has a lot of brown in it, right? Ours has more yellow so we were kind of forced to go in a lime direction. But the color was just soooo light on the walls. I didn't care for it. So hopefully this shade, which is darker, will be better.
Yeah, we have more brown in the bedding. We chose a green close to the one in the bedding to pull out those other colors.
Sometimes finding paint colors is so hard (especially since there are 100+ shades of green to choose from). I have a pretty good eye for color, so I got lucky with one of the samples we chose. I haven't been so lucky with the colors for the other rooms. I just don't know where to go with the other rooms.
Glad you have a half day, I'm jealous! We were told this morning at work that if EBR schools close we close but no such luck. I only work half days anyways so I shouldn't complain
Can't wait to see pics of all the work you've done, sounds like it's coming along quickly!
