DH and I are making changes to the house to make it more appealing to ourselves as well as up to par when we put up for sale next year or when the market gets a little better and we purchase my grandparents house.
Anyway, the basement is totally finished with drywall but I am going to repaint it.. it's basically our theatre room but the ceilings are exposed beams and pipes! I hate having people down there for movie nights with the ceiling. I'm trying to think of a way to cover the ceiling that's easy and not overly expensive. I don't want to drywall incase of a leak. I thought of draping fabic somehow but don't think that will work and a drop ceiling isn't an option because the ceiling isn't high enough.
Sorry for the longevity of this... Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA!!
Re: Please help... remodeling advice!
Could you paint everything: ceiling, pipes, beams the same color to make everything blend in more? That's what they did with the exposed pipes at my college. Maybe even black to make the room darker for movie viewing.
A drop ceiling was my only other idea. My aunt and uncle have a basement media room where the ceiling is quite low. It's a little weird when you're walking through, but once we all get settle down to watch movies, the low ceiling doesn't matter anymore.
We did a drop ceiling in our basement when we refinished it. However, they sell a "new" type of drop ceiling (because we had a low ceiling ot start with) in which it doesn't "drop" but adhears right to the supports.... DH who does construction on the side installed it. Said doing a "real drop" ceiling is easier, this was a bit of a pain, but it gave us about 6 more inches which was awesome.
We got it at lowes
