I decided last year I was throwing DH a surprise 30th BDay party, which is thiscoming January.
The only people that know are my parents.
#1 - when do I start telling other people (ie. his folks, etc)?
#2 - when do I send invites?
I don't want to do it too soon, so I don't have to worry about someone spilling the beans.
#3 - where to have it?
I can get a hall in Ohio for FREE. And it's close to my family, so I can throw him off by convincing him it's for some family function of mine.
But... it's close to MY family. About 45 min away from most of his family. And 90+ min away from most of his coworkers.
I don't want it to be HIS party, but then all the guests are MY family. Get it? But it's free, and it would be so easy to throw him off.
So WWYD?
Any other advice greatly appreciated.
TIA!
Re: Throwing DH a surprise party - need advice
1. Whenever if they can keep a secret. I had my MIL help plan DH's grad party, so I told his parents months ahead.
2. Maybe a month-ish out?
3. Free hall + party bus = safe awesomeness
I would send invites out 6 - 8 weeks in advance for a surprise party
Is there a Firehouse close to you that has a hall that you could have the party at?
Firegirl - brilliant idea! There's a firehouse down the street from us that has dances for the kiddos all the time, so it must have a hall or at least a big enough bay or something. I've never been inside myself, but I know two people that run there.
Oh, and I could get him there by telling him they want to talk to him about his business, potential client and all.
Ooooooh... kind of excited about the idea now. I hope they'll do it!
Thanks again everyone!
