Favorite Christmas Toys

Let's face it, I am going to spoil Scarlett rotten. ?Between presents from Santa and presents from mom and dad it's going to get out of control. ?So here is the one toy I know she is for sure gonna get from Santa.

Anyone have a suggestion for a fun toy, or even just a toy that has a great box that she will love? ?I am sooo gonna buy out Toy R Us this year...?

Re: Favorite Christmas Toys

  • For DD's first 2 Christmases she got a lot of clothes...  books... and wooden toys.  We're not huge fans of plastic toys that require batteries (to make noise/light up.)  Although we did get her a lot of stuff by Corolle (from France.)  She got the pretty Asian baby, the stroller, feeding set, sleep sack, bassinet, high chair...   and she loved them at 16 months, and still loves them now a year later.

Anyway, try not to go toooooooo overboard.  The simple things are usually better.  They require imagination... don't overstimulate...  My cousin goes nuts all year round.  They have a spare room FULL of toys.  She can't even get the door closed it's so packed.  Is their little girl happy?  No.  She's overwhelmed.

Like you said, they often like the box better than the actual toy.  Or the drawer full of tupperware already in your kitchen.  Or little bits of random things outside.  Leaves, stones, sticks....

Save the money for her RESP.  Big Smile

Lauren got this for her first birthday.  She LOVES it.  Plays with it all the time.

  • I want to get this (http://www.sweetpeatoyco.com/) for DS. Other than that I am planning on getting him lots of books, CDs, and stacking toys. I am also going to get an Ergo as a gift to him/us.

This is one battery operated thing we have for DD!  We're on #3, unfortunately.  Be sure to keep the box and your receipt.  We've had 2 lemons.  (it just sits in DD's bedroom - so it's not like she's rough with it or anything.)  This last one is ok so far, but I'm not too keen to do too much to it.  (Like adding music to it!  I spent so much time getting the playlists just perfect in the first 2, just to have to send them back.)

  • We are getting Ben (and all of our nieces and nephews) books and 1 toy (play-doh, staking toys etc). I am not a fan of big toys so we won't be getting B any of those (now how to tell the IL's this???)

Have you checked out Scholar's Choice or places like that?
