bar/restaurants with live music?
Any body have any suggestions? My mom wants to go somewhere like this for her birthday this weekend. We will probably go on Saturday nite!

Are you looking for loud, energetic bars with bands or more subdued places where you can talk?
I can't help you with the first but for the second option, the Blind Lemon in Mt. Adams is always a good choice. They typically have a solo acoustic act. You might try Allyn's Cafe in the Columbia-Tusculum area. The Pavillion in Mt. Adams might have live music as well.

Does Allyn's have music on Saturday night? The Blue Birds are Sunday and it is a big night for them. I can hear it from my house.
I think the Southgate house has some good music this weekend. You can always try Jefferson Hall at the levee.
Blue Wisp Jazz Club. It's much more enjoyable since the smoking laws went into effect. It has live music just about every night.
