I was meeting a friend and her dog over at Great Brook this afternoon. I got to the parking lot and paid for a pass. I stuck the pass in my car, and then was sort of just walking Luka around the long grass while I waited for my friend. This GROWLING dog comes bombing around the car toward us and Luka let out a yelp and hid under me (I was bending down to scoop him up.) So this lady comes walking over and pulls her dog away and asks if my dog was okay...if he got hurt or if her dog just scared him. So I started checking him over and I said I think he may have just scared him...so she said sorry and got in her car. Then I am checking him over and I see blood. The dog had bit his cheek. My poor little guy. I felt so awful. I don't understand why the woman had her dog off the leash especially if he doesn't like other dogs. I just felt like the worst doggie-mommy for not being able to protect him. His cheek seems okay though....although now that I cleaned it up I can see she got a little chunk of him. It all happened in like a second. I am going to have to be more careful of that from now on.
Re: Another dog bit my Luka!
Few things dog related piss me off more than off leash dogs who are not under control. If Luka were my dog, that would NOT have ended well.
Do you need to take him to the vet? You don't want it to get infected and god knows what shots the woman did or did not give.
I have an appointment for tomorrow to take him. It did really irritate me that her dog was off the leash...I felt pretty helpless.
