Does anyone get this message with MSN messenger?

I'm always logged in to MSN messenger so I can get alerts when I get an email (although I'm always "appear offline" because I hate chat!) and for the past month or so I've noticed that at least once a day I'm getting a little message that pops up that says "You have signed on to another computer" blah blah blah. I went to "help" and it says that it'll let you sign on to multiple computers at once.

The thing is, I shouldn't be logged on anywhere else. Do you think someone has my password? Or is this just a glitch?

  • I would change your password just in case.  Did you have it set up to sign in on another computer at one time??  I used to have it sign in automatically on my computer but now use it on my laptop.  Sometimes If we have a power bump or my computer does the automatic restart it will sign me in and give me that message on my laptop.

  • No there's no other computer. Eek. I hate that. I wonder how they got my password, if it is someone? And what else they got?

  • WTF. I just changed my password and within five minutes I got a popup that said I am now logged into three places. Gotta be a glitch... right?

  • Mine does that whenever my home computer boots up or Joe goes onto it or something. Another thing to think about is the computer that you are one...is it constantly changing IP addresses?

I dunno... how would I figure out if that's the problem? I know nothing about computers

  • It would be a network thing so I don't know how you would figure it out easily. I doubt anyone has your password though. It is probably something funky with MSN.
  • I got that before - my computer would try to log in, in both Windows Messenger and MSN (which is really the same thing but different versions), and windows messenger would be "hidden" - I didn't even know I was online until someone sent me a message. If you type Control Alt Delete and read your task list, is there anything similar to MSMSGS.EXE or MSNMSGR.EXE open? Maybe it started happening recently when you downloaded a new windows update (which was actually a new Internet Explorer update which may have included a new version of messenger)
  • I am always signed in to my msn dude that is by the clock.  Lately I have noticed when I go onto msn.ca it tells me I am signed on at 2 locations.  If I open another internet explorer it does the same thing but tells me 3 or more.

I am not sure if that is when you are getting the message but just a thought.

    Hope that helps
