Scary labour & delivery tour

We had just started the tour portion of the night when they announced a code blue in one of the L&D recovery rooms.  I'm not a terribly emotional person and can't say that pregnancy has changed this; but, hearing that terrified me and made me really choked up.  Thank God that within 30 seconds or so, they announced a false alarm.

I've never seen so many nurses run so fast and one that had even passed us a minute or so earlier on her way out at the end of her shift came sprinting back into the nursing station.

Re: Scary labour & delivery tour

  • That would be very scary. Thankfully it was just a false alarm.

    ?

ha! they probably fake it on tours for dramatic effect. ?(I'm clearly kidding, but how silly would it be?!)?

    Left, Right
  • Our first night at the hospital, the night nurse was in our room. I can't remember what exactly happened, but suddenly there was an alarm and she handed the baby to me and said it was an emergency, she had to go. Just as she tried to run out of our room, the other nurses came running in. She'd accidentally pulled the emergency cord! We had a great laugh about it, though.
  • During one of my classes at the hospital a code pink was called, which the nurse teaching our class said means a baby in distress. She hesitated, looking a bit torn, but then apologized and ran out of the room. We could see other medical personnel rushing down the hall too. She came back a couple of minutes later looking relieved and saying everything was okay.

  • There was an alarm that went off just before Scarlett was about to have her first bath. ?The nurse left and didn't come back until a few house later. ?A mom?hemorrhaged?but thankfully was okay, ?under close watch but for the moment was fine. ? It was really freaky. ? I think however if it had happened on my hospital tour I would have freaked! ? Our hospital didn't give tours though. ?They were concerned about the spread of the flu. ?We were given maps.

  • Definitely would give me chills too - thankfully it was just a false alarm!

I remember on our tour of the L&D, 2 couples from our class were already in the maternal child ward with their newborns (they went a month early!)... so crazy!
