Went to the dentist...

I have severe dental phobia, stemming from my crazy inability to get sufficiently numb with anesthesia (sp??)  I haven't been in over two years because my last dentist didn't believe me when I told him I could still FEEL his drill.

So, since we are going to start TTC now, I need to get my teeth taken care of before I get pg.

Went this morning - 6 cavities and need two wisdom teeth pulled.  Yikes.

I am actually releived, though - I was thinking I would need a root canal. :-(

  • wow - i'm sorry. that really sucks. I'm going to the dentist on Saturday for a regular cleaning, but am crazily looking forward to it. I love my dentist and they have a relaxation room!! I'm totally going to hang out in the massage chair for as long as I can!

  • Ugh.  I hate the dentist.  I has been longer than that for me, actually. Embarrassed
  • Yowza!! But i'm glad you went and are getting it all taken care of!

I'm not fond of dentists cuz my front teeth are *super* sensitive, but i like our dentist now and i just grin and bear it. I'm 30 and i still have *never* had a cavity!! DH on the other hand...he's 36 and hadn't been to the dentist in at least 5yrs, so i made him go this year. He has 4 cavities to fill and he still has his wisdom teeth but they all have cavities so they have to come out! I also want him to get his caps fixed cuz they're stained and a little chipped on the bottoms...but he's dragging his feet on that last bit...

  • Yikes, I'm sorry! I myself hate going to see the dentist and haven't been in about a year, I need to go too. My DH has a phobia, he knocked his tooth out when he was about 6 or 7 and had a horrible horrible experience then. To this day, I have to almost physically drag him to see the dentist!
  • I want to go to one of those spa dentists I hear about on the radio.  If I could get a foot massage and a pedicure while having my cavities filled, I'd be a heck of a lot happier! unfortunately, my insurance doesn't cover spas....

Its totally not in your neighborhood, but this is my dentist.

    The Dental Spa

While you don't get a massage or pedicure while you are getting the work done, they do have tv's in front of all the chairs and the post-work relaxation room is great!

  • I personally don't have a problem with going to the dentist (not that I look forward to it, just not afraid to go), so the hubby and I usually go every 6 months. My SIL on the other hand hates going to the dentist (we actually go to the same one) and always asks for laughing gas (or whatever it is they use to relax you) and she says that works a whole lot, so maybe you can try asking for it next time you go back. =)

  • Oh man, that dental spa looks awesome.  I wish it was in the city.  Don?t sweat it Danielle.  I had so many problems with my teeth growing up, you have no idea.  I feel your pain.  Try some deep breathing or get some drugs to knock you out!
