Sigh I want to do a major renovation.

I want to tear out a wall, make my laundry room bigger and move my back door and then reside the addition and change the white paint on my house to yellow. ?I really don't think that's too much to ask right?

I currently have to use my kitchen as my laundry room whenever I do laundry I have piles of dirty clothes all over my kitchen floor. ? I can't put it in my laundry room (which is just off the kitchen) because it's too small and it blocks the back door if I try to put the laundry there. ? I want a folding counter, I want a place for DH to hang up his work shirts to dry that is not my kitchen window.

Moving the door and changing the siding will make my house prettier and the yellow will not look dingy in the winter when compared to the snow. ?This is what I would like. ?

Re: Sigh I want to do a major renovation.

  • sounds nice!!! I love dreaming like that. Maybe you can come up with a home renovation plan where eventually that reno might be a priority (like a few years down the road). There is so much to do on my house too!!
  • How long do you plan on being in this house?
  • That is an excellent question. ?It totally depends on DH's job. ?As far as we're concerned we are in this house until he either gets a better job in a different city or if I have twins the next time I get knock up (It's a three bedroom but the third bedroom isn't that big. ?We would have to upgrade or add an extension just to keep up with all the baby stuff). ?It's not our forever house but I do know that it would up the value of our house by a lot if we did those two renos. ?

  • If you really want to do the expansion then I would figure out how much it would cost and then talk to a REA to find out how much value it would add to your house. That way you will know if it is worth it fincially to do.
  • Actually that's a really good idea. Thanks Jen. DH and I have been toying with what we want to do for a year now. ?We should be getting some money this summer. ?It might be worth it to see if it wouldn't be better to invest it rather than rip apart our house.?

  • No problem! We find we ask ourselves that same question a lot. It really drives what we do around the house. Lately it has pushed us to do the basement before we put in a pool. Crying
  • You have no idea how much I would love a pool. ? I big inground pool with an attached hot tub. ?That is my dream. ?I think it will have to wait until we have a forever house.?
