Recommend a good movie

Is there anything in the theatres worth seeing this weekend? I finally feel good enough to go somewhere besides work and the couch at home, but I have no idea what's worth the trip. TIA!

Re: Recommend a good movie

  • We saw "This Is It" last weekend and I really enjoyed it.  But then again, I love dance.  If you like any of the dance TV shows (so you think you can, with the stars, etc., though actually I don't like them) you might like this movie.

I am dying to see "Precious."  And I think "Pirate Radio" opens this weekend.  And "Fantastic Mr. Fox," which is directed by Wes Anderson, who I LOVE.

  • Ah, I forgot about Precious, which I also wanted to see. I hadn't even heard of Fantastic Mr. Fox, so I'll google the trailer for it. I'm also a Wes Anderson fan. Thanks for the suggestions!

  • I want to see Precious as well...I just finished reading Push.

We went and saw Couples Retreat and I really liked it.

That book was so disturbing.  Not that I didn't like it, and I definitely want to see the movie.  But still...  disturbing. It doesn't come out here until next week, though.

I think we're going to see Men Who Stare at Goats, even though I heard it wasn't great.

I agree it was very disturbing. It really made me appreciate my life.

  • Well, it looks like I have limited options. The theater here is not playing Precious, or the Wes Anderson movie, and admittedly I don't really want to see This Is It. So, the only appealing options are The Box, The Men Who Stare at Goats, and Where the Wild Things Are. I already saw Couples Retreat, which I thought was just okay.
