I am not at all satisfied with my family doctor right now. I went for an appt. at 3:00 today. I showed up at 2:45 (like the responsible patient that I am), waited to go back to a room until 4:30, then waited until 5:30 for the doctor to show up in my room. I left at 5:45. In all, I was at the Dr's office for 3 hrs just to have him shine a light down my throat and confirm that I need antibiotics. Great. Perhaps I should have spent my time in Urgent Care, no?
ANYHOW, I am looking for any good recommendations that you might have. I live in Monroe, but would be willing to travel within reasonable distance (Liberty Twp, West Chester, Fairfield, FF Twp, Hamilton, Middletown).
TIA!
Re: Need Family Doctor/ GP Recommendations, Please
I only say this because I spent 5 years working in doctors offices, and there are days with extreme exceptions. Unforeseeable occurrences that cause the doctors to run way behind. Some examples that I experienced while working for doctors: a simple outpatient procedure has an unexpected complication, paramedics were called and the patient was taken to the hospital, someone comes in for a "checkup" and it ends up being severe depression and the doctor has to convince them to check themselves into the psych ward, for their own good.
Those are the extremes. The most common is that a patient says they're coming in for one thing, and then expects the doctor to take care of five different problems while they're there.
Anyway, I'm not saying you're not justified, I'm just saying that if this is a rare occurrence, maybe give them another chance. Call & talk to the office manager so they know the problem. Honestly, sometimes the doctors are so busy they're not even looking at their schedule. They're going from room to room, whereever the nurse and/or receptionist tells them. He might not have even realized how late he was running until it was too late.
Sorry, that was longer than I intended.
Whatever you decide, GL! It is difficult to find a good doctor!
Good question. This is the way it is every time. Last time I was there (just a few weeks ago) it was over 2 hrs. He actually made (unprompted) excuses for himself tonight, stating, "People have to wait to see me.That's just how it is."
One lady went up to the receptionist to ask how much longer her wait would be (she had been waiting over an hour and a half) and the receptionist said, "Oh, that's common here."
I think the biggest issue is that they keep accepting new patients even though they clearly cannot handle the ones they have now. There are only 2 doctors in the practice and their waiting room is always PACKED. I am not sure why they schedule so many appts. in one day.

I go here too. I think the most I've ever waited is a half hour combined in the waiting & exam rooms. They're probably too far for you but I've been to other GCAP offices & like them too.
I for one get really perturbed when an office collects my co-pay when I check in then leave me waiting in the exam room. There have been a few times I decided to give them 5 more minutes or I was going to leave and ask for my co-pay back. I think you're justified in telling the doctor/office manager/whoever that a long wait every single time is unacceptable and they've lost you as a customer. Because if they're making you wait for an hour every time they're overbooking customers and have forgotten that you are patients. I've had times when the doctors had emergencies (once my old gyn was late b/c she was delivering a patient) but the front desk should tell you the reason & wait time.
We see Dr. Dennis Anthony in Fairfield Twp (across from Walden Ponds). We rarely have to wait very long and they're pretty good about getting same-day appointments. They also have walk-in hours for the first 45 minutes that they are open each day where you do not need an appointment. It is just Dr. Anthony and 1 nurse practitioner in the practice so they don't take on a ton of patients. We've never felt rushed during any of the appointments.

DH and I see Dr. Lichter. I can't remember the name of the practice but the number is 585-5100
It's located right behind Lakota West - kind of sandwiched between the school and the 5/3 bank.
He's awesome. I really like his personality, and we're in and out pretty quickly.
