you know what I love about packing?

No seriously, I love this. It's getting to clean out all the crap that you've been storing because you hate it/don't know what to do with it/etc.

For example, at Christmas two years ago my SIL gave us a veeeeery cheap framed photo of a lightening strike in Arizona (it's actually labelled "Arizona" in big letters at the bottom of the photo). Apparently she bought it for us because: "Ben likes lightening and you're from the USA and Arizona is in America." Hard to argue with that kind of logic, eh?

Anyway, it's a hideous thing, and until now my excuse for not hanging it up was that we can't put any holes in the walls to hang pictures since we're renting. Now I have this awful, terrible feeling that it may "accidentally" get dropped and broken during moving next weekend. A tragedy for the ages, naturally, but somehow I get the sense that it will be unavoidable...

  • Ha!  Love that logic!

  • Packing is great.  It's the unpacking part that really sucks!  Stick out tongue

But I agree...although moving sucks, it's a great way to get rid of crap you don't want.  But we have tons of boxes that have been sitting in our house for 2 years since we moved into our house that still need to be sorted through.  I'm all for throwing crap out/donating it, but B always thinks, "That might be useful some day."  Yeah, right.

  • Perfect opportunity to purge!  I'm totally in a purging mood.  On December 1st we will have been in our house for 3 years so I told MH that if we haven't worn it, used it or touched since we moved in, it has to go!!!

And, um, yeah....that photo would totally be getting dropped in the move.

  • Don't you just love Xmas presents like that?  Or for that matter, ANY present?  I remember as a kid, my Aunt gave me a NKOTB cd for Xmas and while I laughed, my mother was so angry.  See, they had been out for almost 3 years by that point.  She knew I had been to the concert and everything.  Did she not think that I'd already have their first cd?  Ever since then, I've always remembered to be conscious when buying for children and really, even adults.  Some of our wedding gifts were even laughable as well.
