So I was watching City TV at 11 today and the newscaster talked through the entire moment of silence (while they showed footage of the moment of silence).
WTH?
Re: Moment of silence
That's uber annoying.
At work, the fire alarm bell rang. Unfortunately I was on the phone, and the guy on the other side was like "Andrea, Andrea are you there?" so I had to say "it's the moment of silence" and then he hung up. I will have to watch the clock better next time. I really wish it was a holiday here. I don't think about it as much in Ontario as I did in Alberta - they have holidays in most other provinces. I always used to go to ceremonies.
That doesn't surprise me, and is so irritating.
You know, I was at WalMart this morning at 11:00, waiting in the express line. The manager made an announcement asking everyone in the store to join in 2 minutes of silence. Immediately, everyone stopped walking, talking, the cashiers stopped ringing in items...and then along comes this idiot b!tch with her 2 kids - both of whom were talking incessantly, squeezing these loud dog squeeky toys, and generally being pests. Worst part is that the mom was chatting and blabbing right along with them. She looks around at all the people glaring at her and *still* doesn't shut up herself or her kids. Once it was over, I approached the till right next to where this moron mom was standing, and the cashier thanked me for observing their moment of silence. At which point I look directly at the mom and, giving her the most evil stink eye I could muster, said loudly, "I think it's the right thing to do. It's too bad not everyone is as respectful. I suppose you just can't teach some people manners and consideration." lmao Idiot mom looked like she wanted to punch me in the face!
My grandfather devoted his life to and fought for that idiot's rights. It's disgusting that women like her cannot respect that *one minute* a year!
It's really sad to know that there are so many people out there that really just don't give a sh!t about Remembrance Day. Is one minute of silence really too much to ask for? Seriously.
I totally agree...but her kids had to each be at least 8. Not "little ones".
I don't mean to defend this woman's behaviour, but maybe she didn't hear the announcement over the squeaky toys and forgot? When the fire alarm rang, I was like "WTF?" until I remembered.
I considered that. Buuuuuut it was a pretty loud announcement, hard to *not* hear. And, also, in addition why the f-ck did she think we were all standing around for? I mean, she had to walk right past two ladies who had stopped right in the middle of the friggin' aisle.
I know someone who works at Tim Hortons, we met when I worked there while in school and still keep in touch. This Tim Hortons have several war vets who come in daily to meet for coffee then go for walks - today the manager on duty would not let the staff turn up the radio to listen to the 11am broadcast beacause 'She does not believe in war"!!!!!!!
How disrespectful is that??
Happy Easter

I don't understand how some people could be so ignorant and not appreciate what the veterans have done for us.
