So, our stupid bank didn't get our loan documents to us until Friday afternoon. The house is closing on Tuesday (tomorrow). We're scrambling to get everything organized, but our lawyer says she doubts everything will get done on time...it might be able to if our bank will process the docs right away, but there's a very good chance that it will be delayed several days (which means we'll have to pay the owners penalty interest during that time, since buying a house isn't already expensive enough, eh?).
On top of this, when I looked through the loan docs over the weekend, I realized that our bank is trying to charge us for all kinds of things that we shouldn't have to pay (like a discharge of mortgage fee...which would be fine if we had a current mortgage that needed to be discharged, but we don't, so WTF bank???).
Needless to say, I am NOT a happy camper right now! I've semi-taken the day off (I told my supervisor what was happening and we agreed I'd go in when/if this crap was taken care of), and right now we're waiting for the bank to call us back.
Please please please send good "house miraculously closes on time" vibes!
UPDATE: After much back-and-forthing with the bank, at this stage it looks like the closing date will be shoved back to Friday (unless the loan officer can manage a miracle, which he's told us he will strongly push for but can't guarantee), so we'll probably end up paying the penalty interest. ![]()

Re: need good house buying vibes
Fingers and toes crossed!
Banks totally suck. I will not even go into my rant.
Sending you lots of vibes.... sorry you might end up paying penalty interests.
Definitely double and triple check those loan docs. When we were refinancing a few months ago, they actually tried to increase the number of points. I was pissed. I called them and they gave me some lame excuse as to why they upp-ed the points. And I told them I can't do the loan if they keep the increased points. In the end, they relented and gave me my original quote (which is what they should have done in the first place). But anyways, make sure to check those docs and ask lotsof questions.
Good Luck!
