Does anyone have something like this? I was thinking of getting it for my Dad for his b-day, because he is retiring soon and will be working on renovating their new house, and he won't have an unlimited supply of free coffee from his work :P
Re: Anyone have a single-serving (K-Cup) coffee maker??
My MIL got the Tassimo one for her b-day and she loves it. I know that it's on sale at Wal-Mart & there is a good combo pack at Costco too - it's normally selling at Home Outfitters.
It's was nice because in 10 min she had a cup of regular coffee, I had a cappichino, SIL had a hot chocolate and FIL had an espresso using only 1 'machine' and easy clean up! lol
MIL also likes is because she found they were wasting a whole pot of coffee, FIL would make it when he was going to work at 6:00am - well she's only up for work at 8:00am and by that time it was burnt.
I have the Tassimo and love it. DH doesn't drink coffee and I only have time for one cup in the morning. So this way we're not wasting anything. Decent variety of flavors too (more if you go to their online store). The only thing I'm not crazy about is the tea, but I like to drink a pot so that's just too expensive to buy that much Tassimo, and I like scented herbal teas.
Don't buy it from Home Outfitters - it's a lot more expensive there. Walmart or Superstore is where I'd buy it. Superstore has put it on sale a couple of times this year as well. I haven't seen it at our Costco.
Also, the pods are cheapest at Superstore and Walmart, Safeway and London Drugs are about $2-3 more depending on what kind you buy.
I'd assume similar for the K-Cup if you were to buy that instead. I think they have a greater variety of pods available in stores and I've heard they have a reusable coffee pod you can put your own grounds in.
We don't have one YET... but I've done a bunch of research as I see one in our near future.
My husband had a K-cup in his small office and from my exepreince with them at friends places we've both discovered that the problem with the K cup is that it doesn't automatically clean itself afterwards so you some times get risidual taste from what was in there last. The Tassimo one does give itself a little automatic clean afterwards and that cuts down on that problem.
Not such a big deal if you just like coffee, but it's quite noticable with a coffee and a tea drinker.
