Hi all!
I just found out on the 10th that I'm pregnant! We are totally excited but not really telling anyone until after our first prenatal appointment on December 1. I think we could keep it a secret until Christmas from both our families. I need help coming up with a cute "present" to tell everyone.
Here's what you need to know:
1. This is my parent's FIRST grandbaby.
2. The day we found out was my Dad's birthday.
3. This is my MIL's 4th grandbaby but first one from her sons (my SIL has 2 kids and a stepchild)
4. We usually celebrate Christmas brunch at my parents and then Christmas dinner at his mothers. All family will be present at both locations.
5. I want it to be cute but practical.
6. We already "drew names" for my side of the family (because we are all adults) and neither of us have my parents. I don't think that matters because I love giving gifts, but I thought I'd throw it out there!
Thanks everyone! I'm totally excited to do this for our families!

We got to surprise our families at Christmas last year and it was awesome!
For my mom we gave her a digital picture frame. We showed how to use it and gave her a jump drive with pictures already loaded and one was a slide that said, Merry Christmas, Grandma. See ya in August of '09
For DH's family we made them all ornaments that said, Merry Christmas______(Grandma, Uncle, Cousin, etc). They opened them at the same time. It took my MIL FOREVER to figure it out. It was funny.
What ever you decide to do will be perfect - just have fun with it. CONGRATS!
Even though you guys already drew names, you could sneak an unmarked package under the tree and/or say it's a community gift and do something like a framed sonogram picture.
Do you guys do gift openings one at a time? If so, you could hand them a "fake" gift explaining that you think you bought the wrong size and it be booties or something along those lines.
Have fun! We got to do this 2 years ago!! It took my family forever to decode what I gifted them. They're a little slow!
You could wrap up gma/gpa bibs or onesies and just say you found a little something special you thought they'd like and just had to give it to them.
or, you guys could walk in with "baby on board" shirts on.
we found out last year at christmas time too, and i wish we could have done something fun like that. but it was the day we were leaving to drive down to houston when i peed on the stick. we were both still in shock and awe i think so we just blurted it out over the dinner table on christmas eve. it didn't matter in the end- they were thrilled at the idea, and over the moon now that their grand daughter is here!
