Ring orb ladies

Has the lettering totally come off in your orbs?  Sadly, the "to hold" is now completely off.  Guess I shouldn't have used them for holding my rings every day.

Re: Ring orb ladies

  • I dabbed clear nail polish on mine (several coats over about a month) and we use them every day by the bathroom sink to hold our rings with no problems - not even the slightest chip in the lettering.

You know though, you could probably transfer letters in there pretty easily yourself if you wanted to re-do them!

  • my letters came off after the wedding... bc the bm shook the orb with the rings in it! doh! Lisa, how would you transfer the letters?

  • I tried the clear nail polish but it made the letters kinda peel off so I only did one coat on one side.  And that's the side that has now come off - the whole clear coat came off with the letters still attached.  Sad

I think I might just buy a bowl from Paloma's Nest with our names & wedding date to use everyday for our rings.

I was just thinking something like this - just the rub on kind of letters that you transfer onto surfaces. I'm assuming that's how they were added in the first place, since they're on top of the glaze.

I wonder why mine have held up so well? We've been using them every day for a year and a half, and not gently either. We chuck our rings and other jewelry in them and Ben regularly fills the bottoms with water when he shaves (he's a splasher).

  • My orb holds our rings every day, sometimes even the earrings make it in there.  I also put nail polish on the lettering.  I've never had a problem.  Knock on wood!
