T-day turkeys- buy this week or next?

Kroger and Meijer are both having sales on their turkeys this week, but will they will having an even better sale next week?

Just trying to see when I should get them...

Re: T-day turkeys- buy this week or next?

  • If you wait until Sunday you can compre the new Meijer ad to this week's Kroger ad (b/c Kroger starts the new ad on Mon).  I think if you wait much longer than that the turkey won't defrost in time.  I saw some Butterballs at Kroger yesterday and even though they said fresh those things were frozen solid!

  • LOL- you're so right! I was asking some of the customers at Meijer and they said it could take 3-5 days to defrost your turkey in thr fridge... and then I want to brine mine for 24-48 hours, so I'm planning on getting my frozen turkey before week's end...
  • I would get the turkey on monday afternoon at the very latest. You can always help the turkey out by running warm water through it. That is what my mom does and it always helped cut the time down.
