workout goals for the week

Anyone want to join me in setting exercise goals on Monday and checking in on Friday?  DH challenged me to run in a 5k with him next week and I need to get off my butt and run if I don't want to die in the middle of it.  My run on Saturday did not go so well.

If this helps we can make it a weekly thing.  Let's see how it goes.

My current fitness status:  Took a few months off from regular exercise and really need to get back into it.  I'm 5 lbs over my goal weight but more than that I just feel unhealthy.

My goals for the week: Run on treadmill for 30+ minutes at least 3 times before Friday.  Do 10 minute ab workouts at least 3 times before Friday.

How I will reach my goals: Head straight to the gym after getting home from work.  No sitting on the couch!

Re: workout goals for the week

  • Sure, that sounds good to me!  I don't know if I have goals for each week besides just making sure I do something at least a couple of times a week.  The Friday check-ins will help keep me honest and motivated!

I'm taking it a little easy this week though because I tweaked my ankle over the weekend so I need to give it time to heal.  Look at me, making excuses before we even start!

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

Ouch!  I hope it was just a little tweak.

I'm just setting goals so I'll feel accountable.  I hope it works!

  • My current fitness status:  I am sad to admit that I am 30lbs over my goal weight and that is being conservative Sad  I had worked out in the past but with all of our moving in the last 3 years I never found a good gym to stick with, thus the weight piled on, add to that I had some medical issues that caused even more weight gain.

My goals:  about three weeks ago we joined the Y and I LOVE it there.  I was on the swim team in HS and college and used to swim over 5 miles a day.  So I have been hitting the pool and doing about 2 miles and running about 3 miles on the elliptical everyday (Mon.-Fri. and sometimes on the weekend) and I try to do weights everyday, varying the muscle groups worked.  I really want to shed these 30lbs over my goal weight.

  • I love this idea Baker!  My goal this week is to get some exercise each day.  I did yoga on Sunday and the Shred today.  Tomorrow I am heading to the gym!
  • Haha, this is the 3rd board now where we're doing something like this.... the more the merrier, right?  And the more accountable I am..

My current fitness status:  I was trying to lose weight for the wedding, was doing all right for a while, then the month before the stress killed me.  And don't even ask me about the HM... I'm back to where I was weight-wise well before we even got engaged.

My goals for the week: Go to the gym.  Even if it's even once or twice this week, just going is an improvement over what it was in the past.

How I will reach my goals: Going to the gym in the morning is the best bet.  There's nothing else going on other than sleeping, and it's only an hour earlier.  That way I don't have an excuse NOT to go when I get home from work...

  • I am currently signed up to run/walk a 5k December 5th with a friends.

    My goal: To start training.
