I left the house about 10am to take Haley to Chantilly library for
a play group. I pulled into a parking space and went to reach for my
purse from the floor on the passenger side and all of a sudden I hear a
little pop and then feel gushes of water. So I quickly call my mom to
meet us at the hospital. Then call LT to have him get on the next
train so my parents can pick him up from the metro. The third call was
to my doctor as I was already driving out of the library parking lot.
They of course said to go straight to the hospital, which I was
already doing. I just was trying to think of the best way to get
across town without hitting traffic. Luckily 66 did not have any
traffic. Haley was crying in the backseat because she saw that we were
leaving the library. I make it to the hospital only to find out my
parents are sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on Braddock Road not
moving. I didn't know what to do at that point. I get out of the car
and feel more gushes and everything started going down my pants and
into my shoes. There was nobody outside to help me, so I asked this
lady to get some help for me while she was walking in. The lady comes
out with a wheelchair and I told her I had Haley in the car, so she
left me standing there with wet pants and shoes and goes inside to
check. Five minutes later she comes back out and says to bring Haley
with me, they are going to take me straight upstairs. She wheeled me
to up labor and delivery registration and got all my information and
got me registered. However because I had Haley they couldn't take me
anywhere, so I just had to sit there with the contractions until my
parents got there for Haley. Haley was walking around the little area
playing with the rabbits on the counter. Of course she pooped as we
were sitting there. There wasn't much I could do about it however
because I had nothing with me other than my wallet, cell phone and car
keys. I called my parents and they were stuck in traffic still, so I
called Lisa to see if she could get there faster and she was nice
enough to try it. My parents finally were almost there, so I had Lisa
turn around. Dad dropped mom off to get Haley and then he went to get
LT who was already at the metro station. She finally came upstairs
about 11:25. I had gotten to the hospital about 10:45. I kissed Haley
goodbye and she left with grandma and they wheeled me back to the
c-section prep area.
They gave me a little area and a bed, so I had to
get undressed and get into bed. I stayed sitting up because it didn't
hurt as much with the contractions. Then the nurse came in and hooked
me up to the monitors and asked me all sorts of questions. My
contractions were about 3-4 minutes apart at this point. LT finally
got there about 12:15 after parking the car and finding the camera. I
was in so much pain at this point it put me into tears. It was so bad
that the nurses suggested getting an epidural, which of course I said
yes please to. The anesthesiologist came in and then Dr. Forrest
called and said he was about 5 minutes out, so not to give me the
epidural. I wanted to kill him at that point! My pain level was about
a 10! He got there about 12:45 and checked my cervix. It was between
4 and 5 and he said he could feel Kiptyn's feet! Yikes, no wonder I
was in so much pain. They got my prepped to be moved to the OR and I
was on my way. They wheeled me to OR room H, which happened to be the
same as where Haley was born. They had me laying there waiting for Dr.
Forrest and then when he came in we were waiting on the
anesthesiologist. When he came in they made me get on the OR table,
which was fun during contractions. I had to sit up in order to get my
spinal, which was fine. I just had to wait for the contractions to
pass. Once my feet started get tingly they made me quickly lay down on
my back. Then they got started and tested the feeling of my lower body
of course. Kiptyn came out screaming at 1:29pm and they took him
straight to be cleaned up and measured. Kylie was next at 1:31 pm.
They were both healthy and screaming. Kiptyn weighed in at 6 pounds 9
ounces, measured 19 3/4 inches long and his head 13 1/2. His chest was
12 inches. Kylie weighed 6 pounds 3 ounes, measured 20 inches, head 13
1/2 and her chest was 11 3/4.
They
are jaundiced now so very sleepy. Kiptyn does not want the breast
anymore, bt Kylie is doing great. Other than that things are going
well, just hecvtic and tiring with a 22 month old also!
