This morning I picked up our local paper off my doorstep and was greeted by my sisters' smiling faces, which graced the front cover. They were all lined up in a row with another little girl (my sisters are 5, 9, and 11), wrapping presents.
I immediately called my parents' house to tell them to grab their paper before the girls left for school, as they live on an acreage and the paper isn't delivered to their doorstep. My dad already knew about the picture, though- the newspaper came to their school yesterday and took the pics. He asked me to read the blurb to him, which I did, and I was surprised to read that the girls were photographed for participating in a school-wide project to donate gifts to needy children.
I asked how it was that all three of my sisters happened to be included in the photo if it was a school-wide event, and my dad laughed and admitted that my mom, who is on the PAC committee and volunteers at the school in the mornings, was the coordinator for this project. When the newspaper showed up to take pics they talked with her first, and then asked her to round up a few students to wrap for the camera. She "randomly" selected all of my sisters and one of their friends to be in the shoot. LMAO.
Re: Nepotism at its finest
What an awesome keepsake for them...the front page of the paper! Cool (no matter how they got it lol).
It reminds me of the photo my nephew had with our Premier when Ashton was just 3 years old. The province was announcing an increase in daycare spaces and needed a "random" child to pose for photos with Premier Calvert, and to be "cute" for the press. My mom is a communications consultant and was co-ordinating the event so she picked Ashton! lol There is actually footage of him attempting to feed the Premier a cookie!
