DH just called. One of his coworkers was diagnosed with H1N1 today. DH used his computer Friday.

How at risk are we?

I think it is the definition of awesomeness that you joked about it for weight loss. Last winter when I'd put on some bulk, I made my best friend's gay brother lick my glass because he had mono. I tried to make him kiss me, but sadly, he refused.

If I were you, I'd quarantine your husband. It is the only way...

I may or may not have been secretly jealous that my friend had a months-long bout with salmonella when we were 19 and went from a size 4 to a 0. I've been thinking about how I could nonchalantly acquire it for the past 9 years.

I'm probably already exposed, right? No use in sending DH away I guess.

Just say it. You were totally jeal. A few of my gfs and I joke that getting sick is our version of going to the gym. I'd seriously rather lay in bed close to death than step on the treadmill.

My cousin had it June, and she got it at church camp. She was basically quarantined for a week and put on Tama-Flu.

I heard that you couldn't get it twice, but she was actually diagnosed with it again a month or two ago.

Mames to answer your original question - you are only contagious about 24 hrs before you start to show symptoms. But, it can also brew in your system for up to 7 days before it rears its ugly head, so to speak. So, if you guys are going to catch it, you would have by now...but you won't know until the end of the week/early next week if you actually have it. Make sense? HTH!!!

wash your hands a lot. don't breathe on anybody for a few days. Not much you can do at this point. But for future... wash your hands a lot, don't share glasses... basically do what you do to avoid the reg flu. You're probably fine, but if you're not... from I've heard (coworkers who had it) the pig disease is only slightly worse than the reg flu (if you are a reasonable heathy person). Just... may feel like you were hit by a truck.

I've been out of work since yesterday with the regular flu. Since a kid at our school tested positive for the swine, I called my Dr to ask if I could be tested. Long story short they said no and that if I felt like shiit and could not even walk to the bathroom alone, then maybe there was a chance I had the swine. So don't get the swine Mamie we'll miss you too much. Although the newb seems like fun ; )

The swine isn't that bad for everyone if you go to the doc right away and get Tamiflu. DH had it a couple months ago and rested for about 3-4 days (by rest, I mean he didn't go to work but didn't exactly stay in bed either). He took lots of naps, though, more than usual. 2 weeks later, he was 100% recovered (just in time to get his annual bout with bronchitis. I never caught it from him, and didn't even make him sleep in the guest room. Essentially, it doesn't have to be that bad if you get treatment. A lot of people react worse to the regular flu.

But, apparently all shall be jealous because, thanks to even the smell of food inducing sickness, i have managed to lose 11 pounds in one week. All hail the pre-wedding weight...
