Anyone have Altura Credit Union?

Dh and I want to change banks as we are really disliking Chase. We are considering going to Altura and I was trying to get some feedback from people that actually have them. Thoughts?

Re: Anyone have Altura Credit Union?

  • Sorry i'm no help....But jsut wanted to say HI!
  • My brother has them and as far as I know is happy. They used to be Norton Credit Union, part of Norton AFB. We have Arrowhead CU and absolutly love them.

I'm not a fan of the big banks in general and I think you'll be better off with almost any Credit Union. IMHO.

  • Absolutely join a credit union!  (I am biased, I work for a credit union service organization).

Altura also is part of CO-OP Network - giving you access to more than 28,000 surcharge-free ATMs nationwide (including 5,500 in 7-Elevens!).  No other bank has that many ATMs.  Means that you can use that ATM and not pay the foreign card surcharge (up to $3).  However, might want to check to see if Altura charges a fee to use a foreign ATM.  Example: Golden 1 charges $1.25 to use any non-G1 ATM, even if it's a CO-OP Network ATM.  But Arrowhead doesn't charge anything if you use a CO-OP ATM.

Fees at CUs are lower.  Member service is better - all around, CUs are a better choice.
