Re: ?Mamas & Mamas to Be: Weekly Check-in?

  • (1)  What week are you in/how old is your LO? 21 weeks 2 days

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  I feel great... the congestion is getting better, my belly is growing nicely, and I'm exercising regularly which really boosts my mood.  Baby is kicking a lot, and I'm having lots of dreams about him/her!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Next appointment is in 2 weeks.  Got the call to come in for my H1N1 vaccine, though, so headed there tomorrow.  What a relief.

    (4) What do you miss the most now that you are PG or a mommy?  I miss my old body and my old clothes.  I also miss soft cheeses... brie just doesn't taste any good after you've bubbled it in the micro.  :(

    (5) What do you love the most about being PG or a mommy?  As much as I miss the old body, I (mostly) love my new one, too.  Even though it takes some getting used to and it bums me out to realize how quickly I get winded, I still think it's a miracle that women can create and sustain life!

    (6) Nursery ideas...post them here.  Are/did you go traditional, modern, ecclectic or something in-between?  Color(s)/theme.  DIY or pro?  Definitely DIY -- I want to be a budget guru like Jamie!!!  Not entirely sure what we're doing yet, but it'll be gender-neutral and hopefully something that will last through a couple kids and a number of years.

    (7) Will/did you have music playing during your L&D?  If so, what was your playlist?  Not sure yet, but I'm imagining it'll be whatever helps me to stay positive and focus on the birthing process.  I always liked those nature soundtracks they played when getting a massage, so maybe I'll look into that!

    (8) What's your greatest fear about being a mom?  Right now, I'm very nervous about giving birth.  I'm not too concerned about the child-rearing part just yet.

  • (1)  What week are you in/how old is your LO? 16 weeks, 3 days.

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Feeling OK, again except for the allergies. Stick out tongue

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Next appt up Dec 2 (just a boring checkup), ultrasound is...Dec 14, I think?

    (4) What do you miss the most now that you are PG or a mommy? Feeling sexy. I feel fat, bloated, awkward, unconfident and uncomfortable. It's the blow to my confidence (in how I look and feel) that's been the worst in the bedroom. I don't seem to be one of those PG women who feel gorgeous and empowered physically, and I wish I did.

    (5) What do you love the most about being PG or a mommy? I love how much Ben loves it. I really do. He's constantly touching and rubbing my belly, and it's just the sweetest thing. Whenever I feel like sh!t physically, I just go to him for a hug and he rubs my belly and I think again that it's all worth it.

    (6) Nursery ideas...post them here.  Are/did you go traditional, modern, ecclectic or something in-between?  Color(s)/theme.  DIY or pro?  BONUS: post pics of your nursery or inspirations. Blue, yellow, and red (or maybe pink if girls?). Something bright and fun and happy! I actually did a mockup of what I'm thinking of while I should have been packing...it still needs work though. (Here's a link to see it larger)

    image

    (7) Will/did you have music playing during your L&D?  If so, what was your playlist? I hadn't even thought of this lol.

    (8) What's your greatest fear about being a mom? That I'll eff up my kids somehow. Too spoiled, not responsible enough, too entitled (which since I work with 18-20 years olds every day, I see as a MASSIVE problem with the current generation of young'uns).

BONUS: PIP of your bump or LO or for TTCers...link to your chart! I have one this week! I have one! LOL
    image

  • Oh my god!!  Look at the list - I'm next!!!

    (1)  What week are you in/how old is your LO?

I'm 37 weeks - FULL TERM today!!!  I'm so grateful to have made it to full term after our labour scare at 26 weeks. I can't believe we'll meet our little bebe in about 3 weeks.

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

I'm feeling pretty good.  It's hard to sleep at night because I can't get comfy, have to pee and have lots of BH contractions all evening/night.  But my new routine is to get up at 7:00am with Russ - eat breakfast, then go back to bed for a nap!  Love it!

Baby P is quite the little mover and shaker.  The movements have started really hurting on my left side around my rib cage.  We learned a great tip at prenatal to move babies away from where they're hurting you.  They tend to move towards heat and away from cold.  So I've been putting a warm beanie back down low on my tummy and s/he will move towards it.  I tried using a cold pack of peas, but I HATE being cold, so I felt a bit mean using cold on the babe.  I'm not sure if it will work for everyone, but it's worth a try.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

We're meeting with our midwife tomorrow morning.  I'm doing the strep B test.  I think that's about it.

    (4) What do you miss the most now that you are PG or a mommy?

I miss having Baileys in my coffee.  And this may be TMI..... but I miss having sex.  Orgasms = Strong BH Contractions.

    (5) What do you love the most about being PG or a mommy?

I love how my relationship with Russ has grown.  I loved him so much before, but now when he does something for the baby it makes me love him so much my heart nearly explodes!  For example he came in the house the other day and asked me to come outside, he had installed the carseat and was so excited!

    (6) Nursery ideas...post them here.  Are/did you go traditional, modern, ecclectic or something in-between?  Color(s)/theme.  DIY or pro?  BONUS: post pics of your nursery or inspirations.

We did a yellow gender neutral nursery (because we're team green).  I'm planning on decorating with girly/boyish stuff after the baby arrives.  I have some pics on fb.

    (7) Will/did you have music playing during your L&D?  If so, what was your playlist?

I'll have my i-phone there so we'll have our regular music.  But I generally like quite if I'm stressed or in pain so I doubt that I'll use it.

    (8) What's your greatest fear about being a mom?

I'm afraid I won't know what to do.  We aren't around alot of babies, so I'm feeling very unprepared right now.  My mom will be with us the first week and Russ wil be off for 4 weeks so I'll be ok.... right???

Here is a photo from the walk I went on with my little brother and Jackson today.  It was gorgeous out and we had such a great time!

  • 1)  What week are you in/how old is your LO?
    Brooke is 6 months :)

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
We started her on her first "real solid food" (not rice cereal)-- organic peas by Earth's Best. I am considering purchasing Beaba Babycook and making my own... any thoughts/insights?

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
She has an appt. on friday for 6 month check up and more shots...

    (4) What do you miss the most now that you are PG or a mommy?
I miss the freedom to get up and do whatever you want and not have to worry about feeding her every 3-4 hours (since I'm BF). I guess I just miss freedom in general, but I'm happier having her around :)

    (5) What do you love the most about being PG or a mommy?
Everything :) I am so lucky to stay at home and watch my little one... I wouldn't miss it for the world!

    (6) Nursery ideas...post them here.  Are/did you go traditional, modern, ecclectic or something in-between?  Color(s)/theme.  DIY or pro?  BONUS: post pics of your nursery or inspirations.
Hm... we have a nursery, but she doesn't sleep in it. She still sleeps in her crib in our room. Colors are pretty much pink with some brown... but the walls are white. We are looking to decorate more later.

    (7) Will/did you have music playing during your L&D?  If so, what was your playlist?
Didn't have any music playing. I didn't even think about that at all prior to going to the hospital. I watched a lot of TV and Vance watched Boondock Saints on our computer while we were waiting.

    (8) What's your greatest fear about being a mom?
Anything bad happening to my little one. I have irrational fears of her getting hurt or sick...

    (9) For TTCers:  Which cycle are you on?  Where in the cycle are you?  What, if anything, are you doing to have success TTCing?

    (10) For mommies: when did you start get a "normal" night's sleep?
Very early on--- maybe around 6-8 weeks. I know I'm lucky.

Wow! I agree that you look great - and still tiny! Was this recent?

  • (1)  What week are you in/how old is your LO?

    27w6d

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

Feeling okay.  Kinda having a bad day - I think the hormones are really making me irritable.  At least, that's my excuse.  Haha.  Milestone?  I think I finally know what lightning crotch feels like.  Ouch!  Oh, and I passed the glucose test.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

U/S tomorrow!  Hopefully we'll get some good 3D shots.  My next Dr's appt is in 2 weeks (3 weeks from my last appt), and after that I'll start going every 2 weeks.  Already?!  Yikes.

    (4) What do you miss the most now that you are PG or a mommy?

Honestly, I miss my old body.  There's nothing like being pregnant to make you realize how fat you weren't.  I also miss raw fish and beer!

    (5) What do you love the most about being PG or a mommy?

I love when B rubs my belly and how he laughs every time he feels her kicking or moving around.  And I love when he talks to her.

    (6) Nursery ideas...post them here.  Are/did you go traditional, modern, ecclectic or something in-between?  Color(s)/theme.  DIY or pro?  BONUS: post pics of your nursery or inspirations.

Ours is going to be kind of modern, I guess.  Definitely not too baby-ish.  We put the crib together this week and I put the bedding on it but I haven't uploaded the pics yet.

    (7) Will/did you have music playing during your L&D?  If so, what was your playlist?

I would love to have music playing but I'm not sure what I'll want to listen to.  Maybe some mellow stuff like Norah Jones to help me relax.  And maybe when it's time to push, I'll want some more intense music to get me pumped up - like Linkin Park?!  Hahaha.

    (8) What's your greatest fear about being a mom?

Lack of sleep.  I don't handle lack of sleep well, and B is even worse than I am with that.  We'll both probably be pretty grouchy in those first few months.

This is so cool!  I need to do something like that to try to configure our nursery.  But I'm so retarded with Photoshop it would take me forever.

I love the chair and rug!

Off to check out the Ikea website...

LOL yeah I just went back and read that. And now I feel like an idiot lol.

  • (1)  What week are you in/how old is your LO?10 Weeks!!(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Feeling Great!! Alexa has slept 4-5 hours the past five nights! Her longest was 5.5 hours!! We have been trying the E.A.S.Y. method from the Baby Whisperer and it's amazing! I totally recommend that book. It has helped me tell the difference between a hungry cry and a sleepy cry. We are now on schedule and Alexa loves it! Another milestone is that Alexa is now sleeping in her crib (for the past 4 nights). AND... We have established a bedtime routine that includes reading her a book before bedtime. Oh, and on top of all that, I have gone running FOUR times in the last week! Go me!(3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?Her next appointment is her 4 month in January. The most exciting thing coming up is that we are going to Mommy & Baby yoga on Friday! And driving back up to NJ for Thanksgiving, during which DH and I plan to leave her with his mom and -- gasp! -- go out alone one night!(4) What do you miss the most now that you are PG or a mommy?I miss having an excuse to eat whatever I want. And I miss knowing that I am not fat, I am pg! Now I am just fat and it SUCKS...(5) What do you love the most about being PG or a mommy?Being a mommy is the most amazing thing ever... I love Alexa's smiles and babbling and holding her and nursing her, and calming her when she's crying and dressing her in cute outfits... I love it all!(6) Nursery ideas...post them here.  Are/did you go traditional, modern, ecclectic or something in-between?  Color(s)/theme.  DIY or pro?  BONUS: post pics of your nursery or inspirations.Modern nursery featuring lime green walls and hot pink accents with dark brown furniture. I used decals, prints and a pillow to convey a "bird" theme. We FINALLY put up her A-L-E-X-A letters on the wall and my bird prints so I will take some pics to show you all the FINISHED nursery... I LOVE IT!! So bright and cheerful. Inspired and created almost exclusively by Etsy....(7) Will/did you have music playing during your L&D?  If so, what was your playlist?DH made the playlist, mostly rock songs. Not sure if i can cut and paste(8) What's your greatest fear about being a mom? That she'll get sick or hurt!(10) For mommies: when did you start get a "normal" night's sleep? Not yet... Or this week... Not sure what "normal" is anymore!

  • (1)  What week are you in/how old is your LO? 15w 3d

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  Pretty good. I felt some streching ligament pains over the weekend and earlier this week but they have disappeared.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Dec 11th is our big u/s when we find out the sex of the baby. Oh and I can;t wait to go to Vegas the in Dec. I heart slot machines ;-P

    (4) What do you miss the most now that you are PG or a mommy? Having a glass of wine or a cocktal when we go out to dinner with friends.

    (5) What do you love the most about being PG or a mommy? I guess the anticipation of meeting out little one. I also like seeing my belly growing ;-). Oh I also like people's reactions when you tell them the news...they're so happy for you. Oh and I like watching some co-woekers' expression when they notice my bump. Their eyes sort of pause on your bely and you can tell what's going through their head, "is she pregnant or just gaining a lot weight.' Of course I don't say anything.

    (6) Nursery ideas...post them here.  Are/did you go traditional, modern, ecclectic or something in-between?  Color(s)/theme.  DIY or pro?  BONUS: post pics of your nursery or inspirations. We are in the beginning phases. I think if its a boy we'll so something with a fish theme since its my husband's favorite pastime. As for a girl I think we'll go with a plumeria theme or bumble bee. We plan to put our condo on the market soon and I want to paint the room a neuteral color in case its still on the market when the baby arrives.

    (7) Will/did you have music playing during your L&D?  If so, what was your playlist? yes def plan to have music. Haven't thought of the play list at all.

    (8) What's your greatest fear about being a mom? No fears really. I think I'm going to be a fantastic mommy. But I have one....I get incredibly cranky and sad if I don't get enough sleep. So I am a little afraid of post partum depression.

  • (1)  What week are you in/how old is your LO?

    29w2d

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

Getting a handle on the gestational diabetes...my numbers are mostly great.  Just a view fasting numbers (3 out of 6) are slightly high.  Still working on that.  Had a little jello snack at midnight last night and it did help bring down the number this morning.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

Final Bradley Class is on Saturday and our next appt. with OB/GYN is on Monday and I see the GD specialist on Dec. 3.

    (4) What do you miss the most now that you are PG or a mommy?

Sushi, soft cheese, cocktails and wine.  Oh and sleeping through the night.

    (5) What do you love the most about being PG or a mommy?

How awesome Joseph has been.  I never imagined I could love him more today than I did yesterday, but it's true.  I am so lucky to be married to him.  I also have a new appreciation for my body, especially my full hips, round tummy and ample breasts.  I won't lie though, I am worried about what it will all look like after the baby is born.  Eek!

    (6) Nursery ideas...post them here.  Are/did you go traditional, modern, ecclectic or something in-between?  Color(s)/theme.  DIY or pro?  BONUS: post pics of your nursery or inspirations.

DIY, definitely. It's going to be a shared space with Joseph's study.  The walls are already a khaki color with white trim and we have pale aqua curtains up.  So we've incorporated those colors and are adding in a pale lime green and pink to the mix...and going with a shabby/boho chic feel.  I'll have to make a little collage of what we're doing and post it later (I am so not as talented as Lisa in OZ with the Photoshop...that mock-up ROCKS!)  We're going with a slight "woodland" theme using decals from Etsy and I am making a bird mobile with fabric birdies.  We'll also do decoupaged wooden letters on the wall and probably a peg shelf with a couple of vintage baby dresses (that I wore) hanging from it.

    (7) Will/did you have music playing during your L&D?  If so, what was your playlist?

I got an iPod when I first moved to Tulsa and it's still in the box.  I plan to break it out and download some tunes to use at home and at the hospital.  Probably mostly classical and "spacey tinkly" new age music.  Something benign enough not be too distracting, but comforting enough to help me drown out the hospital noises, etc.

    (8) What's your greatest fear about being a mom?

In the beginning, not knowing what to do.  Also, being sleep deprived.  I don't do well at all with no sleep.  Later, making sure I am raising my child to be the best she can be and no projecting too much of myself onto her or living vicariously through her.  I am also fearful of our children coming between our marriage (which I see a lot with my friends) and I want to be proactive about making that relationship primary so we can both, as a team, parent our children well.

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  Last week I was running on adrenaline.  This week I finally am starting to be exhausted with the intermittent sleep.  Had a breakdown today, but getting better... switched to exclusively bottle feeding after Monday night / Tuesday morning, which had the paramedics at our door b/c he wouldn't stop screaming... not a good night.  Ended up he just had really bad gas, but no matter what we did, we couldn't stop him from crying.  See blog for more deatils (link at end of siggy).

    (10) For mommies: when did you start get a "normal" night's sleep?    Oh, I REALLY would like to hear this answer!
