house buying. can I please vent for a minute?

So after all the stuff ups with our loan documents (thanks, bank!), our closing was delayed until tomorrow. Except that now they're saying that it may not happen then either. Because the bank still has not looked at the final paperwork. Are you kidding me??? First they didn't even bother issuing it until two days before the original closing date, and now they haven't even LOOKED at it?!

I'm so pissed off right now. I'm exhausted. I'm frustrated. I'm hot. I'm still dealing with my allergy crap. My feet are swollen like two overstuffed sausages. We're having to pay the owners penalty interest for every day we go past the original closing date (and YES we will be asking the bank to cover this cost as it's clearly their fault). When Ben talked to one of the bank loan reps on the phone earlier today, at the conversation she airily suggested that maybe we should talk to initial loan officer as well, "because they might know what's going on?" Are you serious, lady? YOU don't even know what's going on! What's the LO supposed to do? Check his crystal ball?

I'm just so tired and frustrated right now. Our house is 90% packed up and we have no idea when/if we're moving (we've been told it all might still go ahead tomorrow, but at this stage we're assuming we're NOT moving this weekend, and maybe not even by next weekend).

I want to cry.

ETA: Just talked to the bank...again. Now they're saying it may still be OK for tomorrow. We have to go in and sign something else first thing tomorrow morning (this is the third piece of paperwork they've forgotten or effed up), and if they can get that processed fast enough, it may close tomorrow afternoon. I'm not holding my breath.

  • How annoying!  I hope it works out and you guys get to move in this weekend.  All that stuff is stressful enough without having all the hormones to deal with, too.  Geez.  I'd be calling and telling them to get their $h!t together.  This pregnant chick is not tolerating any BS!

  • wow,  that's awful!

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

  • Oh, boo!  I'm sending you LOTS of vibes for a closing before the weekend, and sending some to the bank for them to get off their a$$es!

  • You're at the absolute worst part of the whole process....the END!  Fingers are crossed that it all works out for tomorrow.  It sucks not knowing when you'll move though - huge PITA!!!

  • oh I feel your pain... if you recall we went through a bunch of crap w/ the bank too.  it totally sucks, but hopefully it sounds like you have an end in sight!
  • Having sold mortgage loans for many years, unfortunately, this is very common.  In all my purchase loans, I don't recall even one time it being easy.  Boo!  When I bought my place, I thought for sure I'd come out with a bleeding ulcer in the end.  Good Luck Lisa, you're almost there!!

  • Eek, sounds like they really need to get their acts together!! What is all this stuff with forgetting your paperwork?!? Buying a house is a huge transaction! I'm so sorry that you have to deal with all this in the midst of packing and moving while being pg. Hang in there and hope they start doing their jobs and get everything processed! Lots of vibes your way...

You know it's funny, because the last house purchase I did was a massive clusterfvck (much worse than this one), and NO ONE I know has had an easy time buying, regardless of what bank they go through. You'd think the banks would have their acts together more, considering that they do this every frigging day! If I did my job that reliably badly, I'd be fired...

  • That's awful! I hope they get things straightened out so you can close tomorrow.
