Central Pennsylvania Nesties
Dear Community,
Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.
If you have questions about this, please email help@theknot.com.
Thank you.
Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.
I have finally made it out of the mandatory waiting period to be able to post here on The Nest. And I was wondering if anyone out there knew why/how we get points by posting, and what is the reason for them.
Re: New to the Nest
Whoa, there's a mandatory waiting period? News to me! Hah!
Welcome
I'm not sure if we ever figured out the points system or not...I've completely forgotten about it being there, to be honest.
Welcome!
Yep, the waiting period sux...why 2 days?! I think 1 would suffice but whatever.
Waiting period? That must be new. We have knotties who aren't even nesties post here. How do they figure out a "waiting" period. Don't they have something better to do with their time... like making sure the boards all work? Sorry, was on my soap box for a moment.
Welcome!
I can't answer your question and I don't remember a waiting period when coming from the Knot, but I wanted to welcome you. Also, yay for another Reading girl, as there are only a few of us.

Some how they think if you are a member longer then 2 days, whatever you are posting won't be spam. I seriously think most people have better things to do then to join websites like this and post spam. They seem to have enough fun on other web sites posting random web sites in the comment section attached to articles.
And thank you to everyone who has welcomed me. I feel the love.
So, there are actually others on here from Reading? I haven't had the chace to go looking.
Welcome to the board!
The knot and the nest are tied, so you have one user name, you don't have a waiting period between them but if you create a new name then there is a waiting period.
Yes, there are 5 of us who GTG about once a month. Next time you see Reading GTG post, feel free to join us.
I think the mandatory waiting period is less for spam and more for trolls. If somebody posts something really stupid and someone else decides they want to flame then anonymously, they would have to create a new name and wait two days. By then the drama's probably died down. That's my guess anyway
I think the points may have something to do with how much action (view, responses, whatnot) your posts get, but I could be wrong.
And welcome to the Nest!!
I missed this question before. The points really don't get you anything, it's just a matter that they decided to use them and now they are here, but they don't really have any value. You get points for making a post, 15 points for replying to a post, and also things like adding pictures to the nest gallery, making a blog, etc.
-The board moderator, who doesn't really have to moderate this board because usually everything is great
Welcome aboard, nice to see another new member!
