Our elliptical is arriving just in time for Thanksgiving :P

It's being delivered on Tuesday. Maybe that means I can get a pre-emptive workout in to prepare for the ten pounds I'll probably gain on Thursday.
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

Re: Our elliptical is arriving just in time for Thanksgiving :P

  • yay! Where'd you get it from? I need to get one (I think, screw our to-buy list order, I want an elliptical as soon as we clean out the den to put it in there), but I don't know where to go for it. Getting it from Kmart or Sears seems like it might not be the best idea, I'd rather invest in something that won't break on me, and has all the little features I want. I've never bought exercise equipment before, and the treadmill my mom got from Walmart bit the dust after about a year. So... any thoughts?
  • We ended up getting ours directly from NordicTrack.  Sears was actually having pretty good sales but (a) they sold out of the machine we wanted by the time we were ready to buy it and (b) for only $35 more NT delivers straight to our door so we don't have to worry about picking up from Sears (I don't think DH looked into what Sears delivery charges were though).

Check out Consumer Reports for reviews on specific models.  I also really like this site for it's consolidation of reviews across different sources (including Consumer Reports) and the education they provide about what you should be looking for in terms of features, quality, etc.  I use it for any new product I'm researching that I don't know much about, like when I was trying to decide what kind of miter saw to get DH last year.
