Hey!
I'm in Montreal. I've been here for almost 3 weeks and I'm leaving Tuesday (yay!). I'm here so that I can finish my freaking PhD thesis. I moved to NY last Dec to work on it from there. I'd been working and coming up for meetings. In June, my committee suggested I split 1 data set into 2 papers. I wrote it up (though it didn't really make sense to me) and gave it to them in August. At the end of October they finally read it and said it should be 1 paper. So I decided to come up here so I can ask them every tiny question so that I don't get screwed over again (the original thing ended up costing me 6 months).
So far, I'm making some awesome progress but I'm totally homesick!
I'm glad you paged though. I was meaning to talk to you.
First - are you meeting SBS? If so, I am most jealous of that meet up.
Second - Don't talk smack about my Jayhawks!! Y'all are goin' DOWN. [I can't watch the games while in Canada.]

1. No, she totally dissed me and ignored my suggestion! Ok, maybe it had something to do with it being the day before she left, but I didn't know she was coming! I really have been MIA from internet life!
2. The Jayhawks should not beat us. It's not good for them. We're the only Big 12 team with National championship potential. Without us, the Big 12 looks horrible and overrated. Texas must win for the good of the division. I just hope our A team shows up tomorrow, and not our B team.

So does this mean you'll be completely done soon, or will they still have to review it and potentially send it back for more changes?

I love how you attempted to justify why UT should win. You're hilarious. (And really, I haven't been following AT ALL and the only reason I knew there was a game was because of you so I shouldn't talk much more trash.)
I can't believe SBS dissed you. But at least I don't have to feel completely jealous for the rest of my life.
I really hope this means I'll be all done soon. I have to submit draft 1 of the complete thesis by Dec 10 (but I'm actually hoping it'll be sooner even though if I make that deadline it'll mean that I wrote an entire thesis in 6 weeks which is insane). Then, they have to read it and give me revisions - which they should do by xmas break, but they haven't met any deadlines yet. Then I need to revise and submit to the university by Feb 1. Then I can defend!! I have a secret hope that they won't give me much to revise and I'll be able to submit to the univ in Dec so that I don't have to pay tuition (and go into debt) for next semester.
I'm kind of flipping out, but I'm staying with my good friend who just moved back to Montreal and he has been AMAZING. He's super supportive and just keeps encouraging me to get stuff done and has been helping me keep sane. (But it's totally weird living with another man.)
