Holiday Signature Drink Ideas

I'm hosting a potluck holiday party for work peeps and I want to provide a signature drink.  I'm coming up blank.  Half the crew likes just beer and the other half likes liquor.

Re: Holiday Signature Drink Ideas

  • I don't have the recipe but we went to a December wedding and they had Candy Cane martini's . . . they were so good.
  • I was actually thinking that, but was nervous people wouldn't like them.  Were they really minty?  Thanks I'll look into that one more.

  • You could serve red (cranberry or pomegranite) and green (apple) martinis.

  • You could try making something with apple cider.  I like the peppermint idea too.  I like to put peppermint schnapps in hot chocolate, but I'm not sure if that would work for a party.

    This.

Wassail is another great holiday drink!

  • I saw this on the Food Network this week and it looks delish!  We're testing it tonight!

Sunny's Family Therapy Cranberry Rosemary Digestif

    Prep Time: 10 min

    Inactive Prep Time: 30 min

    Cook Time: 10 min

    Level: Easy

    Serves: 6 to 8 servings

    Ingredients

    For the cranberry syrup:

    1/2 cup water

    1 cup cranberries

    1 cup sugar

    3-inch cinnamon stick

    2 sprigs rosemary

    Pinch salt

    1 lemon, zested

    For the drinks:

    Ice

    200 ml bottle whiskey

    Directions

Add the water, cranberries, sugar, cinnamon stick, rosemary, salt and lemon zest to a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Lower the heat and simmer until slightly reduced in volume and thickened to a syrup. Remove from the heat and strain through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl. Discard the solids. Refrigerate until cool, about 30 minutes.

    To make a drink:

Put a handful of ice in a drink shaker along with 1 1/2 ounces of whiskey and 1 tablespoon of the cranberry syrup. Shake gently a few times and strain into a glass. Repeat for the remaining drinks and serve.

  • Thanks, plenty of good ideas.  Now I just have to pick one. Smile

I'm trying to figure out the verbiage for the signature drink on the evite.  I think my brain is fried.  This is my first full week of work back since vaca.  Any suggestions regarding how to word the signature drink on the evite?

  • I thought it would have been really minty but it wasn't, it had a sweet taste to it so there was something else in it.

  • Egg nog's classic too.

Mmm... eggnog.... I haven't had anything outside of an eggnog latte yet this year.  I must remedy this...

  • Last Christmas my signature drink was the "Mistletoe  Kiss" which was 1/2 champagne and 1/2 pear nectar.  Very delicious!
  • My neighborhood bar always serves a fun sangria this time of year, and I got the recipe once. It has apple cider, a mix of red and white wines, apple brandy, soaked apples and oranges, some cinnamon and cranberries for garnish I think. It's pretty good and you could play around with the ingredients all you like.
