What are you most exctied about this Thanksgiving?

Well, lets hear why your Thanksgiving is going to be special this year!

Re: What are you most exctied about this Thanksgiving?

  • As we all know, this is most of our 2nd Thanksgivings being married, but I count this one as our 1st lol. Last year we were so rushed and busy with just getting back from our honeymoon and moving into the new house. I worked last Thanksgiving (same as this one -- by choice) and I dh made one my favorite meals, round steak with mashed potatos, corn, and gravey). Not very Thanksgivingy at all.

So this Thanksgiving, we will be spending without our families as well. But this year we are hosting a dinner for our friends that cannot make it out to see their families or just have sh!tty families.

We are going all out, Turkey, Stuffing, Corn, Mashed Potatos, Candies Sweet Potatos, Biscuits, Gravey, Cranberry Sauce, Punpkin Pie, and Mulled Apple Cider (all but the Cranberry Sauce and corn is homemade from scrath). Plus, we will be setting the table with our China we got for the wedding. It's the 1st time we will get to use it =).

I am excited to host our 1st holiday and spend it with our friends. I will miss our families very much, but that's just the way it is.

  • Food, family, wine, laughter, picking out a cute outfit to wear, catching up with relatives I haven't seen in a while...

But mostly, the day after Thanksgiving so the holiday season of 2009 officially kicks off! DH and I set up our tree and do really Christmasey things all day, so I cannot wait for that. It's one holiday tradition where we don't have to worry about anyone else's schedule, and can just do our thang!

  • Im excited to go to CO and spend Tday with my dad! Its been about 10 years since I have gotten to spend any holidays with him!
  • I'm excited to have DH and my Dad to celebrate it with, given the scares we've had lately.

I'm excited to spend a few days at my parents' house, and that I get to spend time with my dog because I miss her everyday.

I'm excited to prepare foods with my Mom.

And, I'm excited that it kicks off the holiday season...we can decorate the house, listen to Christmas music, have more holiday food and drink, just having that feeling in the air of the holidays.

Ohhh, I didn't even mention the day after. I am sooo excited for shopping, it's a tradition of DH and me to go and get as many awesome deals as possible. We love being able to get more gifts for friends/family bc of the deals we get. Plus, it's a fun crazy time together.

  • I would say the food, but this year I won't be able to endulge as much as usual (oh how I'll miss my potatoes).  I think seeing my niece eat her first actual Thanksgiving meal (since this isn't her first, she was 1 1/2 weeks old last year, but she can eat "people food" now).

  • I'm excited that I get to celebrate my first anniversary the weekend after Thanksgiving!  Yay for being the last of the Novembies! LOL

I'm thrilled that my son is coming to stay with me Tuesday-Sunday of that week, that we are celebrating Thanksgiving with my friend and her family, and that I live in a small enough town that the Black Friday crowds shouldn't be too crazy!   I'm only hitting up Walmart, but I asked there the other day how bad the crowds were (since I'm used to Denver) and she said a couple dozen people at most line up at 5 am.  Woot!

    STUFFING.

    Ditto!!!

I'm also excited about seeing my family!!!

  • This is terrible, but I think I'm most looking forward to seeing Fantastic Mr Fox later in the day. We're doing Tgiving with FIL & SMIL and it's always awkward. DH isn't very close with FIL, his dad is just really quiet and uninvolved in anything. It's always just us sitting there listening to SMIL talk about her screenplay she is determined to have made into a movie and make millions (eye roll) and her work (in benefits). Her parents and 13 yo SSIL also sit there in silence. It's pretty painful! Oh well, at least it's a good meal with decent albeit quiet people!

Ditto, but for different reasons... I couldn't remember what I did last year!  Now, I do.  We went and visited my step-father in the hospital and went over to sis's for a Thanksgiving dinner of Baked Ziti.  yeah. um...

This year is my true first one without my family with me-my side, not DH's.  We'll be with his side-which is fine-I love them, too!  It'll just be odd, that's all.

I am looking forward to taking our first pics to make Holiday cards with!!! Yeah!!! The pic of the 5 of us from our wedding is stinky as SD had some a$$ wacky face on-I think it's the wind, though...  I'm also getting closer with my oldest new niece and would like to chat w her some more... She's prob closer to your age than I am!

  • Cooking. That's weird, isn't? But it's the first time I cook TG dinner, and I'm excited. We'll have TONS of leftovers!!

Speaking of leftovers, I love leftover turkey sandwiches... yum!

And I'm doing BF shopping by myself, also for the first time... I won't be there at 5 am, though, I'll be there at 9 am at the most.  Wish me luck!

  • I get to see my Grandmother this Thanksgiving, I have not seen her since the wedding!  I am so so so excited!
