what do you buy ppl who have everything?

ok.. my sister in law and my brother ALWAYS go over board on Christmas. They have 2 lil kids that I ADORE and love buying for but never know what to get my btother and sis in law.... I've asked (I've also asked that we just focus on the kids for Christmas but that never seems to work)

They don't seem happy with anything.. any suggestions? stuff that isn't super expensive.. we just bought a house last month and dh's family are the only ones who respect the "we are on a low budget Christmas"  ugh

brother is a computer geek ( I say that lovingly) who loves hot sauces

sis in law is a stay at home mom who changes the rooms in her house every six months (no I'm not kidding)

thanks a bunch

Re: what do you buy ppl who have everything?

  • Is there a World Market store in your area? We have them here in VA/DC and they rock. They carry all kinds of amazing and unique hot sauces and beers from around the world. For guys we know, a gift basket of hot sauces, beers, and snacks is always a hit.

For her, maybe a GC to Pier 1 or another store she shops at for the house?

  • Maybe for your brother and SIL you can do a theme type of basket thing. LIke a movie night with movie tickets (gift card), dvd's, gourmet popcorn and snacks.

Or maybe if they like the theatre and there is a show coming up in 2010 they would like you can get them tickets. I try to go for experiences vs something someone can just throw away.

For the kids, get them some book gift certificates. That is always a huge hit with my brother and SIL for their kids. Although the kids are eh about it at the time, they always have a great time at the bookstore finding something.

    Hope that helps. Good luck.

Took 2 years & 8 months to make our baby! Lilypie First Birthday tickers
  • Maybe for your SIL there is some magazine about decorating that she would like.  You could get her a subscription, then she can get ideas for her 6 month decorating.

  • Offer them a date night; gift them a GC for dinner and a movie, and offer to babysit the little ones.

This is what i was going to suggest too! Find out their favorite restaurant.

  • As someone already mentioned - theme baskets.  It's a great way to try new things.  I do this almost every year for someone or another and they always enjoy them because it's usually not something they'd get for themselves.

  • UH! I KNEW you gals would be able to help me! The Theme ideas are PERFECT (the hot sauce and beers and what not for him and gc and subscription for her)

I would LOVE to do the move night and babysit for free but they live over 3 1/2 hours away (unfortunitly) trust me I'd babysit the kids ANY day :)

thank you SOOO much!! Definitly a HUGE stress lifter :)
