Thoughts on New Moon (spoilers)

Ahhh where to start....

This movie was much better made than Twilight but still had it's cheesy moments.  I thought the first wolf scene looked extremely fake but when Jacob jumped over Bella and transformed, it looked a lot better and more realistic.

KStew SUCKS as an actress!  Her batting of the eyelashes and licking her lips drives me nuts!  I laughed at the fact that she couldn't cry when Edward left in the beginning.  Come on - a REAL actress should totally shed tears on command.  Love that they had to cut away and the cut back to show the streaks on her face.

Also, this movie totally solidified my Team Jacob stance.  He's HOT!!!  Love the fact that most of the wolves didn't wear shirts (gotta love the 6 pack!)  I think he really outdid himself bulking up - I mean his shoulder muscles and abs were amazing!  (And now I'll be arrested - jail bait haha).  Didn't care for the long hair but once he got it cut - swoon!  Of course I'm talking the actors and not the characters.  I get the appeal of Edward as a character, I just don't see anything attractive about RPattz at all.  I'm not keen on the Jacob character but he had some great lines in the movie.  Very blunt and funny.

Thought the clothing for most of the people was better this time (except for Bella's, can we stress that KStew has no rack?)  I especially liked Alice's clothes.

As usual, I loved Charlie.  He's such a cute dad, who wouldn't want him for a father?

I'm sure there's more to comment on.

Best part of the movie for me was when Bella is knocked out in the water and the kid a few rows over yells "unconscious" really loud.

Oh and some people told me to bring tissues.  I think I laughed more than anything.  To me nothing was really sad and I think that mostly is because I knew what was going to happen since I read the books.

Re: Thoughts on New Moon (spoilers)

  • Loved it!  Just saw it this morning, and I liked it better then Twilight.  I am solidly on Team Jacob.  (I think age of consent in NY is 17, right?  No not *really* jail bait!)

I think the acting was better, and I loved the Volturi.  I think the makeup in general was better, b/c they made Edward & the Cullens sooooo pale in the first one that they looked unreal.  I mean, I know they're supposed to be vampires, but it was distracting and I'm glad they toned it down.

I loved Charlie, loved the wolf pack, and I loved Jasper even more in this one.  He had some good lines.  Dakota Fanning was adorable (in an evil way - loved her pout when she couldn't hurt Bella).

The only thing I didn't like was Bella "nightmare" sequences.  They were awkward and didn't really add anything to the film, and KStew's groaning and shrieking sounded really weird.

Over all I really liked it!  KStew seemed to act better in New Moon than Twilight.   Taylor Lautner is very easy to look at.  RPatz was decent.  I will probably go see it again!

    PersonalMilestone
  • Yeah he's not really jail bait but since some of my students I taught are older than him now it feels weird.

Yes, the makeup was certainly better this time around although the one Volturi guy was supposed to have onion like skin but I didn't really feel that way in the movie.  Guess it's hard to do you know?  I think Alice looked beautiful in this movie.

Dakota Fanning was good - for her small role in this movie.  I'm sure they gave her the part for the other movies more-so than this one.

I also hated the nightmare part - sounded like she was giving birth!

Taylor is VERY easy to look at this time around.  He really bulked up for the part!

  • I also loved it.  Im all about consistency in movie series though and It was a different house for Bella and her room was different.  Not really that important but it was definitely noticed.

For me the part with the Volturi was the best part....

I also loved how at parts it was actually laugh out loud funny....MAde the movie all the better!

  • Yes - it's true her house is different, the whole window scene.

Plus, it was making me dizzy when they went from her being in the woods and circling around her to the circling around her in the chair while she stares out the window.
