My MIL has a blog. It's pretty cute . . . when she's not posting about crazy religiousness or how she thinks that it's society's fault Jon and Kate split up (luckily my SIL talked her out of her tree on that one). So she just posted about how she's preparing for Thanksgiving and she's sad we won't be there, but she's excited about "the promise of Thanksgivings to come when my house will be full ...maybe even with Grandchildren." Hint. Hint.
Oh, MIL. She means well, but she's going to be waiting a very long time for that promise since we're probably waiting another 2 - 5 years. And J's siblings are nowhere close either so she's definitely talking about us. But we're poor, not ready, want to move, do grad school and find stable employment first. Oh and my spine would probably hit the self-eject button if I got pregnant right now.
I do love her though. I wish they were coming up to my parents for Thanksgiving, but my FIL just had knee surgery and can't travel.
Re: Oh, MILs.
LOL, we got that hint from FIL on his wedding toast to us. But they knew they were getting their wish soon enough.
Well, she can only hope. But I'm sure she'll figure out your plans are very different in no time.
Actually, my ortho did say that having a baby wouldn't necessarily be as painful on my back as one would expect . . . Apparently when you're pregnant, your body releases a lot of natural anti-inflammatories. So some people with my injury actually feel better than normal until the very, very end.
Still . . . since the fusion is still healing, I think I'm going to give it a chance to do so and wait a couple of years.
Lore - We let my in-laws do a prayer at our wedding because J's side of family is very religious (we aren't in the slightest) and during it, my FIL asked God for grandchildren.
My friends nearly died.
Wow-presumptuous, aren't they?
Dh's good friend's wife always says to me-don't you want babies? Why aren't you having kids? etc... Drives me up a friggin wall! (Note-she's due in Dec and they are naming their baby Maximillian-it will have a very German last name, too)
I think you're very smart for thinking of things you want to accomplish before kids. You know what you want to do and when... and waiting for your spine to heal more is def smart!
Do you have any pets, though? would MIL be good if she had a grand-furbaby?
Furbabies are a distraction for like, a minute lol! At least with my MIL who has been talking grandchildren openly since DH & I were dating 4 months, in college, and only 19!! I honestly think she wanted us to get pregnant right away, she would get us body chocolate and other creepy sexual things. What mother wishes that on her son at 19?! I swear she had some fantasy in her head that we'd drop out and move in with her so she could raise the baby and "take care" of us forever. Crazy. Person.
At least your MIL isn't being pushy about it, but I totally understand how annoying the hints get!
bwahahaha! Gross! MILs. . .
Wow! That is creepy! Crazy lady!!
Kristy - Wow. That's instense. J's mom got me some underwear last Christmas (totally harmless, it matched a pajama top she got me) and we joked that the underwear is just going to get skimpier and skimpier until we have kids . . . But that is WAY over the line.
