First, thank you ladies for the prayers/vibes/thoughts because they really did work!!
They took the ventilator off this morning and he is doing good. I got to talk to him and he sounded in good spirits. He was super emotional. He was told (not sure why they would tell someone this) that he only had a 10% chance of making it to University of MD in order to get the surgery. Well, he made it there, made it though surgery and now off the ventilator.
The only concern now is his kidneys. They are only at 50% but the medical staff is optimistic that they will be 100% in no time.
The nurses are getting annoyed by all the phone calls and visitors (my parents live about 3 hours from the hospital so people coming to visist is so nice)
. I am sure it makes my dad feel so loved and is keeping him positive. I wish I could be there and it makes me so sad that I'm not. This situation is really making me question how much longer I can be this far apart from my family:-( We were so lucky to get my mom a flight as fast as we did.
Thanks again for all the love ladies! xoxo
Re: Update on my Dad
Late on this but I wanted to say I am SO glad he's doing better! I'll keep sending the vibes!
The nurses in my dads ward got a little grumpy with all my dads visitors too lol.

Renee this is wonderful news and I will continue to pray for your dad and your family.
I hear you on questioning the distance at times like these...in fact we had about 3 very critical incidents with my MIL in the space of 18 months that finally prompted us to make the move out here. We've never regretted that decision and are happy to be a driving distance to her now rather than a 5 hour flight and many days off work, etc. Plus with a LO on the way we're glad she'll get to her granddaughter in a way that she wouldn't have been able to had we still live in CA.

Renee, I'm so glad to hear that your dad is doing much better. He sure does sound like a fighter and I'm glad that he's got lots of friends and family near him to keep his spirits up.
Hope he continues to recover quickly!
