Gatlinburg, here we come!
After nearly of month of being husband and wife, we're finally going on our honeymoon! Yay!!
I've only been to Gatlinburg once, and it was for a friend's bachelorette party/weekend, so I don't know much about the area. Does anyone have any "must sees" or "must dos" to recommend?
Re: Gatlinburg, here we come!
Eat at The Park Grille. DELICIOUS! A little pricy, but oh so yummy.

DH and I really like the Ripley's mini golf course. And realize that for any hike you do the mileage is "as the crow flies" not the actual trail... at least it seemed that way on one of the ones we did! We barely made it back before dark!
If you're looking for a short road trip, head out to the Biltmore in Asheville, NC and get the audio tour. http://www.biltmore.com/ The wine tasting there is also really good.
Last time we went there, we ate at this little place: http://www.greenbrierrestaurant.com/
It is a little log cabin off the main area. It had a nice cozy and romantic atmostphere and the food was good.

Try to drive up to Cade's Cove if you can. It is a bit out of the way, but almost a guarantee to see some wildlife, and a beautiful drive. Roaring Fork Motor trail is another drivable trip through beautiful, but winding scenic roads. I love hiking any trail that leads to a waterfall. The trails that lead in off of Newfound Gap are great for scenic photo taking. Same for the walk up Clingman's Dome. I always find the trails in the park to be great for a short day trip. It should be gorgeous there right now. Perfect weather for walking.
I love a day trip to Cherokee, NC. You can gamble at the casino or just spend the day shopping for pottery etc. I went to a Cherokee pow wow once, and absolutely loved it. I second the recos for the Park Grill and Hilbilly golf. The Peddler Steakhouse is one of the best places to eat in Gatlinburg. My Dad loves Bennett's BBQ, but we have not been there yet. We love the Applewood restaurant in Pigeon Forge, and the outlet shopping there is great too. Have fun!
Ditto this. DH and I have been going to Gatlinburg for the last 5 years and we always stop in and eat at the Peddler at least once. The steak there is delicious!
Have fun on your honeymoon! That's where DH and I went too. Nothing beat sitting by the fire in a chalet in the mountains and relaxing after all that wedding madness!
my blog
Definitely eat at the Apple Barn restaurant in Pigeon Forge. They have these apple fritters that are TO DIE FOR. The trout house in Gatlinburg itself (it's right at the beginning of town as you drive in from Pigeon Forge) also has fabulous trout if you like seafood.
As far as attractions, I do remember enjoying the aquarium, and we did do a hike to one of the waterfalls (I think it was listed as a mile-long hike). We also did the drive to Cherokee, NC. You drive through the Smokies, intersect with the Appalachian Trial.. quite a breathtaking view. We didn't do a lot in Cherokee but they do have a really interesting museum with Native American culture there that we enjoyed.
Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
