Happy Monday! Boss lady decided to text/email out "sick" today (I think she's just hung over from drinking all friggin weekend). Also, I don't know if you all do, but this is just a 3 day work week for me. Whew! I don't know if I'll be able to handle that.
How was everyone's weekend?
Mine was good. We took our niece overnight on Friday and had her all day Saturday. It was great! She had a late bedtime because her wicked smart mother put her down for a late nap (5pm, didn't wake up until 630). We discovered she plays a new game at night when she wakes up (she only woke up once on us). She wakes up crying (like babies do), I can tell she's thirsty, I give her a small bottle of milk. I know her parents are trying to break her of the bottle in the middle of the night because she tends to only use it as a paci. I took it from her when she started doing that and LORD ALL MIGHTY, let the screaming begin. She screamed for a while, I tried rocking her, laying with her, etc. Finally I says "Okay, you can cry yourself to sleep in your play pen" (that's where she sleeps when she's over). I put her down, more screaming, she cried for about 20-30 minutes, then silence, M and I think "fantastic she's asleep", we move to our "sleeping positions"....dun dun dun "waaaaahhhhh" she starts crying, we stop moving, silence again, we wait 5 minutes, we think she's asleep, we move..."waaahhh" she startes crying AGAIN. I whisper to him "Okay, just go to sleep, she's playing a game, I can tell". So I just roll over and fall asleep, well apparently dum dum stayed up until she actually DID fall asleep because he thought I was torturing her by letting her cry herself to sleep which was 2am, luckily she slept until 10am.
See, we had put the play pen in our room, as we did before, and she slept in there with us. We now know to put it in the living room at night from now on so she can't hear/see us moving around and think we will get up to pick her up. Needless to say I have learned quickly M has no patience for a crying baby. He denied this the next morning (after a lovely fight we had) but we all saw it. We are taking her again overnight Thursday.
Saturday we had planned to go to the park in the early afternoon, but that didn't happen for a stupid reason, so we didn't get there until 3-ish pm because niece took a nap then had a late lunch. We then went up to Best Buy, came home, dropped off niece to her mother, went back out for sushi.
Sunday we just stayed in all day, M played his video games ALL day, until I told him at 530 that I needed to do my exercises.
Hmm, wow I just wrote a book about my weekend! Sorry 'bout that. Hope everyone's weekend was good, and here's to a 3 day work week!!!
Re: Good morning ladies!
Yikes, I think you guys did the right thing about all that crying ... I wouldn't know what to do about that!
My weekend was awesome! We celebrated our anniversary alllll weekend long and it was nice to not have any distractions. Our cake was the bomb.com and we ate lots and lots of good food
Now I'm off to the funeral so I'll be back later. Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Other than my parents, I had a great weekend. Went out to dinner with my BFF who I miss so much. The girls did awesome in their dance classes. I got some shopping done while in civilization. Focus on the positives!
Weekend... went so fast!
Fri-did a lot of nothing...
Sat-worked, then market, then DH & I sat around for a bit til we decided to head to the neighbors for chatting, games and some vino. Fun in a way...
Sun-went to Philly so Ma wasn't at the house all day. Hung with the sis and Mom-walked around, mainly. That was a nice day for being outside! No traffic-even with the big marathon!
Now-to get stuff ready for Thanksgiving! ugh. I just wished we had a room to ourselves vs. the sofa in the main room... but we'll have fun playing Sequence and other card games and Banagrams!
yep-3 day week for moi, toO!
Sheri- you are going to be an awesome mom. With all this practice there will be no surprises for you once you decide to have your own little one.
Ditto the weekend going fast! Glad this is only a 3 day work week!
Friday - DH and I went to light up night in Pittsburgh. It was nice but there were a ton of people.
Saturday - I had grad school class so DH went four wheeling. We stayed in that evening and just hung out.
Sunday - Was our anniversary. Unforutnately I woke up with a headache so DH made me breakfast in bed and then we just hung out and watched movies all afternoon. We went to my mom's for dinner because she had a "present" for us, she bought at 24 pack for TP for our "paper" anniversary LOL! She did also give us $100 which I thought was very generous. Looks like we might be able to get away at least for a night now!
Sheri ? I think I would?ve freaked out and cried myself . . . but that?s probably because I?ve only held a baby standing up once and I?ve never changed a diaper. J is going to be screwed when we have children (he?s great with kids and knows all the basics).
We had a great weekend. It started out with free Korean buffet ? delicious, that restaurant is going to be dangerous to my wallet. And then we got home and there was a letter from J?s mom. In it was a savings bond from J?s grandmother, who passed away about 10 years ago. There was a note saying that grandma would?ve wanted him to have fun with it so we ended up with $40 to supplement the cheap weekend we had a planned.
Saturday, we went on a tour of art galleries in our neighborhood. We saw some great stuff and had some free wine and cheese! But after walking 7 miles (we google-earthed it, ridiculous), my hip started to give out so we got on the bus back to our apartment . . . But on the way we passed Fette Sau, this bbq place we?ve been meaning to try. So we decided to use the extra money there. It was pretty darn good. They sell beer by the gallon! Oh and we got some jowl bacon to go and ate it for breakfast and dinner on Sunday (blts!)
Sunday, we went to a rooftop farm in Greenpoint, grabbed an Italian sub, and watches the Giants game and then the Pats game (woooooooooooooo!) and then the Bears/Eagles game. I think I have a football addiction.
I had the BEST weekend!!!
Friday: Flew to Little Rock, drove to Memphis, checked into hotel, showered, changed then over to Graceland for Mansion lighting ceremony and dinner.
Sat: Toured Graceland, then toured Sun Studio, over to the Peabody to watch the ducks in the fountain and saw them do their little parade up to the roof, BB Kings on Beale St for 1st anniversary dinner (I was so tired I didn't eat much but took my yummy food to go since I figured I would want it later. A homeless man on the street asked DH if he was going to eat that since he was really hungry, so DH gave it to him. I know that I can't be mean and selfish about that, but those were good freaking ribs and I really wanted them....). Wandered around Beale St listening to bands and checking out different clubs.
Sun: Went to the Civil Rights Museum. It doesn't open until 1:00 so we saw where MLK Jr was shot and that's about it. Drove back to Little Rock, toured the Clinton Presidential Museum, then back to the airport.
Whew! Let me tell you, it was non stop, but SO MUCH FUN!!!!
Hi ladies! I had a nice weekend
.
Friday night we went to see A Christmas Carol in 3D. I'm not usually a 3D movie fan, but it was really beautiful.
Saturday we slept in, and then I went to SMIL's to "plan" Thanksgiving with her. And by planning, I mean that I went up to listen to her ideas, nod, smile, and get my assignments (crudites, pumpkin pie) and N's (mashed potatoes, dressing). She likes things a certain way. . . But she's fun to spend time with, and she fed me mini cinnamon rolls, so I'm not complaining! We ran errands for the rest of the afternoon, and then went to a dinner party at some friends' house. The wife is part Cuban, and she is a ridiculously good cook, so it was fabulous. She asked me to bring dessert, so I made flan for the first time ever, and it came out great! So easy, too.
Sunday we slept in again (ah, lazy weekends!), went to the farmers' market, and then watched some football. In the evening, I met SMIL at a bookstore near my apartment to meet the Pioneer Woman (if any of you are familiar - she's awesome), and get our cookbooks signed.
All in all, a very nice weekend, and I'm so glad this is a short week!
Morning ladies!!!!
Its a TWO DAY work week for me! neener neener!
Friday I took the pup to get groomed because we did our christmas pics on Sat. After that we went to LoLo's Chicken and Waffles! Its THE BEST fried chicken in AZ!
Saturday I had to work. It was sooo slow. After work we met up with IL's for dinner which was tasty. Then DH's Photog friend came over and we did xmas pics. You girls are going to DIE when you see them. So funny! We had to keep stuffing the dogs mouth with cheese to get him to sit still! LOL
Sunday was our anniversary. We lounged in bed for a bit *wink wink* then went to Matt's Big Breakfast which is our all time fav breakfast spot! Its where we went every weekend of our dating relationship, the owners love us and where so happy to see us! Then we went shopping to find a clock for our 1 year anny gift to each other. We had no luck but had a good time. THEN it was off to Ruth's Chris for dinner. It was soooo amazing! After we came home to eat our top layer...it was tasty, but realllly dry. So I just had two bites.
