Funny anniversary story

DH and I checked into our hotel yesterday evening, the one where we stayed on our wedding night.  We had a suite with a kitchen (only got the suite because I wanted the jacuzzi tub).  On the kitchen counter was a big basket with a bottle of wine, water bottles, cookies, chips, and chocolate.  We thought it was one of those hotel hospitality baskets where they charge you for what you eat, but we couldn't find a price list.

Then we noticed that the water bottles had labels that said "Lora & Kevin 11/22/09."  Weird!  So then we realize that the hotel has mistakenly put an out-of-town gift basket for this couple's wedding in our room!

Rather than doing the right thing and taking the bag downstairs, we put the wine and water bottles in the fridge for later.  Embarrassed  Feel free to flame me for this because I'm sure I would have freaked out last year if this had happened to one of our gift bags.

Unfortunately the wine was horrible, so I guess we saved someone from drinking it.  We just thought it was really funny to have a wedding basket in our room when we were staying there for our anniversary.  Turns out the wedding reception was upstairs at the restaurant across the street where we had dinner.

Re: Funny anniversary story

  • If I found a gift basket in my room (and it was my anniversary) I would have kept it too!  Too bad the wine was bad!

  • Ha! I would ahve done the same thing.  We were called after we checked out of our hotel for the wedding and told that we had a gift left for us at the front desk.  We told them that there was no way it could be ours but they insisted.  I tried three different times to tell them there was no way anyone would have left this gift and they said that we were the only couple that weekend to get married so it HAD to be ours.  We went and picked it up and it was some uber expensive bowl from Dillards.  It had a crack in it so we returned it for store credit and got something else.  It wasn't for us but oh well.  That's what they get for leaving it without a name.
  • No flaming here.  We would have kept it too, espcecially on your anniversary.  Maybe it was meant to be Big Smile
