BR: SEVEN HOURS!!!!!!

Alexa just slept SEVEN HOURS!!!!! So... She just slept through the night! I am still in shock. I feel amazing. Like a new woman!

We have been following the E.A.S.Y. routine from "Secrets of the Baby Whisperer" and established a bedtime routine.

Last night, I fed her and she was asleep but then we woke her and bathed her, read a book and then I fed her again, woke her and put her in her Miracle Blanket (this is new for us), and left the room at 11:30 p.m.

We woke up at 6:30 a.m. wondering... Is she OK?! A peek in her room and she was chillin. So I pumped a little (I was engorged), brushed my teeth, got some water and then went in to get her. She was happy and all smiles!

Just had to share... WOW!!!!

Re: BR: SEVEN HOURS!!!!!!

  • That's awesome!  There's nothing like a good night's sleep (which you moms don't get much of!)  I've never heard of the Baby Whisperer, but it seems like this technique worked for you.  It's so cute that Alexa woke up smiling and refreshed...like you!  :)
  • YAY!!!! I'll definitly have to invest in this book. What's a Miracle Blanket?

  • That's awesome!  I need to learn more about this EASY routine.  Is it a book?
  • Wow, that's great! What is the EASY method? I read great reviews about the miracle blanket on Amazon--was planning to get one too. I'm glad to hear that it worked so well for you!

  • Yay! A full night's sleep is AWESOME. . .Brooke started STTN around 6-8 weeks. . . it was amazing and we are so incredibly lucky :)
  • Wow 7 hours!!  That's awesome!!

I'm reading the Baby Whisperer right now, I'm enjoying it.  I think the SLOW theory will be helpful as well as EASY.

She recommends starting the way you want to proceed (or something like that?).  When did you start using the EASY routine?

  • wooohooo!! congrats!!! I am so envious of you right now Wink

I'm not familiar w/the baby whisperer or EASY method either but that is great!

  • That's awesome!  I think I'll have to check that book out, too.

  • Malia,

Isn't that a WONDERFUL feeling?!  Congrats!  You got a full night sleep early!  Following EASY has helped Ben too in the beginning.  But then when his first set of teeth started to come in at 11 weeks, he threw us for a loop.

Over the past 3 months, I've been following the book "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child".   He's in bed before 8pm and then up usually by 7pm and nap around 1-2ish and up for no more than 2 hours at a time.  I find it really helps him out.  It was hard to read at first, since I was so tired.  But I just sped through most of the beginning and focused in on the relevant months.

    Congrats to you and Alexa!!

But I still swaddle Ben at night... shhhh... LOL!

  • Awesome!  Ashton is still 4-5 hours then up every 2 or so.  I can't wait to move him to his crib in Jan. I think he will sleep way longer once he can't smell me.  I've also heard good things about the No-Cry Sleep Solution.

The Miracle Blanket is a type of swaddle blanket with no velcro that has a pocket for the baby's legs and two pieces of fabric for the baby's arms. Google it. Another mommy friend told me about it and said her daughter slept an extra 2 hours at night when she started using it!

Yeah, it's E.A.S.Y. for a simple routine of Eating, Awake/Activity time, Sleeping and while they are sleeping, Your time. It's in the book "Secrets of the Baby Whisperer." It totally helped us get organized and it helps me know why she's crying... I used to think she was hungry again after only 2 hours but then was confused when she wouldn't eat. Now I know she was crying because she was tired so I know that all I have to do is rock her and she'll nap. Love it!

I'm still in the middle of the book, haven't even got to SLOW yet! Haha. We just started using EASY about a week ago. I wish I had known about it sooner! I don't think it would have been helpful with a newborn but at about 3-4 weeks, it would have been a lifesaver!

Yeah, I know it's only going to work for a while. I've heard they will be sleeping good and then all of a sudden start teething or something and it'll all get off sked. All I know is it works for now!

That is great to hear that you like the "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child." My sister-in-law recommended that book and a friend of mine has two copies so she's giving me one when I go over for a play date with her and her baby on Monday. It looks like a thick book... But I think it 's important to establish good sleep habits early, so I am looking forward to checking it out! Thanks for the recco!

We moved Alexa into her crib on Sunday night... I think she definitely is sleeping longer there. Good luck with Ashton and his crib! I'll check out that book... I am in total sleep method research  mode!

  • Malia, I'm so glad you're doing all this work (research) and will have it down so you can pass on all the great advice to those of us who are following!  Stick out tongue  If you can help me get sleep early on, I will be forever grateful.  (There might even be some Starbucks gift cards heading your way for payment.  Hahaha.)

  • YAY!  I'm trying to get through the book - wish there was a video with the examples of the cries - I am such a visual person.  Glad to know it's working for you!  I'm still waiting for the cord to fall off for an official bath.  Can't wait to try this bedtime routine! :)
  • Good girl, Alexa!
