I meant for this to be the Sunday one, but I didn't get on yesterday.
me: I've never gone for a regular brunch
(I went for Mother's Day brunch twice to places that only do it on Mother's Day)
Re: best BRUNCH in the city?
this is really really hard! I feel like brunch is great almost no matter where, lol - but maybe that's more of that I love brunch!
Penelope - adorable little cafe with long waits but really great food.
within our neighborhood, we love Rose Water Cafe and Bellville Bistro
there are about 20 or so places I would love to go for brunch and another huge bunch of places that I would go to brunch for depending on mood, budget, and who I'm with.
side note: nova, I'm not sure if you are doing this through a thenest.com page, but google sites has great free webpage builder. that's what the girls over at Getting Pregnant board used for the info site.
Nolita House: cozy spot and yummy brunch
Stanton Social: a bit pricey but really good fare, and the mimosas are delish!!
Essex: my favorite in the bunch, so relaxing and the food is great plus the price is amazing
Garage: I am not sure if that is the full name but I have been there twice and it was also pretty good, plus the live music gives it a nice vibe!

Pipa has an awesome brunch, my mouth is watering just thinking of it-baby chorizo, bacon wrapped dates, goat cheese croquettes....mmmmmn! And great atmosphere and post-brunch browsing through ABC Carpet and Home is always a treat.
The West Bank Cafe on 42nd street and 9th has a great brunch. I especially love the berry crepe. and their bacon is amazing. Perfect before an early broadway show.
The Waldorf Astoria for an all-out fancy brunch (think Mom's birthday, etc.) over the top and in a beautiful place!
sarabeth's on the UWS is great.
My personal fave is Mourtarde in brooklyn, yummy and no waits.
I love Moutarde as well!!! But DH thinks the croque madame is better at Belleville. haha. they are both comparable and yummy!
I have not been in years, but I'm assured by other it's still as good:
La Flor
Woodside, Queens

It's a low-key, small place with cafe-like seating, and a brilliant chef with a an elegant Mexican-tinged menu. Breakfast was fabulous--either the Irish Breakfast or the French Toast. Brilliant. And real, local. (Of course, the NYT has since reviewed it, so it's localness may have been lost since the days when I knew it.)
thanks everyone!
Liza - I'm planning on trying Google pages, I'll have to see how it goes. Thanks though.
