BR: CDing Mamas - Nighttime CD Routine
So ladies...Sarah, Jaime, et al...what are you doing for nighttime diapers? Doublers? Wool covers? Help me out here...I feel like we're set to CD but I am wondering if I should stock up on some inserts, etc. for nights.
Also, did you CD right away or after the meconium passed? My mom bought us a 75 pack of NB Swaddlers just in case our PFs/Covers are too big at first (I doubt they will be) or something goes awry with CDing at first. I figured I'd just use them until the meconium is passed since I heard it can be tricky to get out of CDs.
Any tips/insights would be great! We're using PFs and Thirstie Wraps.
Re: BR: CDing Mamas - Nighttime CD Routine
I've read from other moms that meconium doesn't stain and then others say it does. I waited until the meconium passed (and then some). We also got the Pampers Swaddlers - we had about 30 we took home from the hospital and we purchased a 60pk as well (keep in mind we stayed at the hospital 5 days and used the diapers while there too). Annalise had meconium until day 6 b/c my milk was delayed coming in due to the anesthetic drugs from the c-section but I understand that it is usually gone sooner. I was hoping to use the Pampers until the umbilical cord fell off but we have less than 10 diapers left now and I'm not sure when her cord will fall off (average is 1-2 wks but it can take 3 wks)... but I just put a PF and cover on her and was able to get it to fit just below the cord so I think we'll just switch to cloth when we run out instead of getting more sposies. It's an awkward fit and hard to snappi but once the cord falls out I think it will be much easier.
As far as night time goes, as newborns, they aren't super heavy soakers and they are up so much feeding I don't think it will be an issue - at least that is what I have read on diaperswappers (but I'll have to get back to you in a few days!) I swear as soon as we put a new diaper on Annalise she knows it and soils it!
Sometimes after she does it, she will smile at me though, and then I can't really get mad at her for it!

Wow, good to know. I guess when she arrives I can send my my to the store to get bigger diapers if she's too big for the NB size. I hate to buy a package of size 1's and not need them since we plan to CD as soon as the meconium passes. Luckily we live across the street from a grocery store so my mom can literally pop in there and get what we need before we're even home from the hospital. I assume the hospital will have size 1's should we need them.
