local ladies: can you recommend a mover? forclosure drama...

Sigh...

The condo we are renting is being forclosed, so we need to move.  We can't take a chance on hoping that whoever buys the property at the auction in January will keep things the same, so we are moving.  Unfortunatly, we need to move in the next two weeks, because my husband leaves for DC again on Dec 6.

Found out about forclosure Friday.  This was after we were told that everything would be fine (we first got a visit from the bank back in september).  Had two more people from the bank show up today looking for the owers (whom we don't even know - we pay rent to a property manager).

So, yeah.  Gotta move in the next two weeks, and I need help.

Do you have any recommendations for a mover?  We're hoping to stay here in Kaneohe; we looked at a couple places this morning (please keep your fingers crossed).

Also, I think we might need a lawyer.  Any lawyer reccomendations?

Re: local ladies: can you recommend a mover? forclosure drama...

  • I am so sorry.  We were in the same predicament...TWICE when we were living in San Jose, CA.  It just sucks!

What we discovered is that the owners had an owner-occupied loan and the bank didn't know they were renting it out.  So we showed their representative a copy of our lease agreement and that gave us 60 days to move  We moved sooner than that since we didn't want the drama...but you do have some leeway, possibly.

Good luck in your search.  I know when we moved we asked the owners about their loan and if they were current on it and intended to stay that way before signing our lease.  We asked why they were renting their property.

They understood why we were asking those questions.  When you rent you're used to having your finances scrutinized, but it never occured to us to scrutinize the finances of the owners too.

  • no suggestions, just wanted to say that i'm sorry you're in this crappy situation. i hope you find a great place.
  • I don't have any recommendations, but I just wanted to say that I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this. What a crappy situation! (((hugs))) and I hope you find someplace great to move to!
