stupid cat vibes

I know it's silly, but can I get some good vibes for my stupid cat Elwood? As you all know, we just moved, and at some point last night or early this morning he managed to sneak out an open window for a little look-see around the neighborhood - he loves being outdoors, but we were planning on keeping him inside for a week or so in the new house to make sure he was settled in.

We've searched the yard and the nearby homes and have absolutely no idea where he is...I'm worried about him because obviously he doesn't know this area, and we're much closer to a busy road than we were at our last place. I really want the stupid cat to show up...I've even taken the day off work so I can be here to grab him if he turns up, which I know is silly. Sad

(oh PS - have internet again!)

Re: stupid cat vibes

  • Oh, I'm so sorry!  I would be worried sick, too.

    Sending you "come home already stupid cat" vibes.

     Have you checked your old neighborhood yet?  If he doesn't show up by tonight, it might be worth checking out.   Cats are known for finding their way back "home" across amazing distances, after all.

  • oh no! good kitty vibes coming your way. he's prob pretty close, they hide but won't come out for nothing when they are scared.  unless, he's a known escape artist.

    this sounds completely ridiculous but hear me out.  one of our cats got outside and was gone for a week...we hired a pet detective and a pet psychic (told you we are ridiculous).  anywho, the pet detective told us to pee in a water bottle and spray it around the neighborhood (something in the pee and they can tell who it is)...i sprayed (literally) it all over our neighborhood leading up to the window he escaped out of...he surprised us, jumped right back through the same window a week later!

    i hope he shows up...we were completely devasted when ours escaped.

     :::good kitty vibes:::

  • Oh no!  Hope he's just hiding somewhere near and safe and will come home soon...
  • When I lived in Manoa my boyfirend and I had adopted a cat and named it Manoa from the Humane Society.  We had him for about 3 years and then we moved to Kaimuki, well he ran away.  He had the microchip in his ear but we never saw or heard from him again.  2 years go by and I get a phone call from the Humane Society that they have our cat...I had to think for a bit because we didn't have a cat at the time....I asked them to describe it and amzing enough it was Manoa.  I went a bailed him out and brought him home....he was still sweet as can be and gave me lots of love.  After keeping him in the house 2 weeks later he was gone again, for good.  Cats are crazy...never owend another cat after Manoa....

    We're going to do this tomorrow if he doesn't show up by tonight. It's pretty far for him to walk in one day, but he could probably do it in two.

    Honestly, I kind of doubt he's gone far - he's most likely hiding in a bush at one of our neighbor's houses - but that doesn't stop me from worrying, of course.

  • oh no! we had something similar happen when we moved from our place in NC...only it was at our old place and the stupid cat still didn't find his way home (in his defense he is indoor only)...but we drove around the neighborhood for 30 min before finding him in the woods!

    sending lots of kitty vibes that he finds his way back!

  • Cats are smarter than you think!  We took our cat (only about 1 year old) camping with us this summer to a place he'd never been before.  He roamed around the campsite during the day and eventually disappeared as it became night.  We called and called and he didn't come back but there he was in the morning.  He found his way back to our camper even with all the other campers in the area and not the familiar smell of our home and yard.  He did the same thing the next night.

    Just make sure you have an item or two outside that has a familiar smell on it and hopefully he'll make his way back.  He probably doesn't even know where the door is to come in but hopefully he's watching you from a bush or something!
