Creamy Mashed Potatoes (kind of a poll)
In prepping for Thanksgiving, I got to thinking today about all of the different things that people put in their mashed potatoes to make them as creamy as possible. In the past I've used butter, milk, cream, and sour cream (and assorted seasonings). I'm not partial to any one of those ingredients in particular though. What do you use?
Re: Creamy Mashed Potatoes (kind of a poll)
Always butter (real butter), a little skim milk, lots of fat-free sour cream, and lots of seasoning. I use a seasoning I call "Grandma's Spice" because it's my Grandmother's recipe for a no-salt seasoning.
Have you ever tried caramelized onion mashed potatoes? Caramelize two large sweet onions, then mash them with just a little milk and the potatoes (nothing else). Just a little variation to the standard.....so yummy!
Mashed potatoes are pretty much my favorite food ever (how boring does that make me!?)

My Food Blog - Good Eats 'n Sweet Treats
Hi Amy, I just made these on Monday and now I think I'll go eat leftovers.
I use Heavy Cream and real butter. Sure the heavy cream is horrible for you but I think I can taste a difference than with milk. I hear some even make it with evaporated milk. I'm scared to deviate off the path!
I use butter and milk but I recently saw an ad for Philadelphia Cream Cheese with a recipe for creamy mashed potatoes using their cream cheese (I think it was the spreadable kind, the chive & onion cream cheese) - sounds good to me, I may need to give that a whirl.
