Adam Lambert

Ok wow. I didn"t watch the AMAs but happened to turn them on at the last minute. I have never heard/seen this Adam Lambert sing but EW! I thought his performance was just disgusting. I don't care man/woman/gay/straight- having someone give u "pretend oral" and running up making out with ppl in your band is nasty on primetime TV. Oh and the song was just as god awful as all his eyeliner. Did anyone else see this?

  • I saw it and think the only reason he was last was because of the awful gross performance.  Like - most kids would be in bed at this point, it's ok to put Adam on.

    YUCK!

  • It was so not thrilling, I never watched the season of AI but did hear him sing some and thought it was great, then I watched this performance and as PP stated hated the song as well as the performance
  • I get that he's going for the glam/shock rock thing, but it's nms.  I didn't think he sounded very good and I don't find the overtly sexual performance at all appealing.  He has however managed to get a lot of attention and keep his name buzzing just like when he finally came out after all the speculation and keep the hype up for his album.  I really think it's just a big marketing ploy.
  • ok....DISGUSTING. I am so disappointed. I actually really enjoyed Adam Lambert when he was on American Idol.  He is really talented, but there was no need for that performance. What a shame.

  • Well I can't comment on the vocals since the speakers here in my office echo but I didn't think that performance was much different than the sexualized sh!t we've seen from Madonna, Janet, and Britney for years.  Why is this different? Because it was a man's face in a man's crotch? The three ladies I listed above have all performed very similar moves with male dancers.  And let's not forget the Madonna/Christina/Britney kiss.

Was the performance over the top and maybe un-necessary? Yes, but I think that can be said for many of the performances last night (I stopped watching after the first hour an a half).

  • I see your point Two, but I can say that at least, for myself, even if you take out the crotch part and the kissing part, I still don't like the performance.  And just for the record, I don't like most of Madonna, Britney or Janet's performances either (or most of their music for that matter).

It's NOT different. It was just as inappropriate when those ladies did it, lol! I don't care who's crotch is humping who's face- it crosses the line between "sexy" and trashy/vulgar. I was just shocked b/c I guess I associate American Idols with a different type of image. I think he was just playing off of the Britney/Madonna garbage of the past to try to shock & awe.

ITA that it crosses the line from sexy to trashy. Unfortunately though shock & awe is what gets names in headlines and records sold. Unless the public stops eating up (love it or hate it people are talking about it) we'll continue to see some performers take the less classy road.

Oh and my "why is this different?" comment wasn't directed at you, just a general question.  Even though the Britney/Madonna kiss got a lot of publicity it still seems like a bit of a double standard between the envelope women can push and the one men can push.

Nope, I didn't think your comment was directed at me :)

I agree it can be a double standard. At least Britney got some positive feedback, that it was "sexy" to do a same sex kiss... I don't see this guy getting any.

  • I also think Britney Spears got so much press b/c her same sex kiss was with Madonna. If Adam Lambert wanted to play "that" card he shoulda asked Bruce Springteen for a little tounge ;)

    Yes , I agree 100%.

  • I was going to day the same thing that Two said - she beat me to it. My friend on FB last night made the point of Madonna and Britney and I think it's the same thing.  They are only doing it for shock factor.  I don't agree with either situation.
