Coordinating holidays = P.I.T.A :)

The baby isn't even born and my inlaws are already lecturing us about holidays and making sure we attend the annual family christmas eve party.... i'm so annoyed. I plan on attending every year just like the last 11 years but once the baby is born we will be late some years bc I plan on carrying on my dads tradition of reading The Night Before Christmas and decorating cookies for santa with all my nieces and nephew and the new babies... so if we're a little late to DH's 5 hour family party i'm sure they can suck it up!

Re: Coordinating holidays = P.I.T.A :)

  • yes!  We've been dealing with this and the problem is my parents are 2.5 hours away, so we only get one day with each and there's no showing up at both on the same day.  Eff no.

  • Good luck! That's the worst part is coordinating between all the families.
  • its so hard to coordinate who is going to be where these days!
  • As long as both our parents stay put for a while we shouldn't have any trouble. They're in the same neighborhood so even though we'll be like 45 minutes away they're right around the corner.

That and the only holiday we celebrate together is Thanksgiving because DH is Jewish and so far we've never had to choose between the two because my parents eat early (like lunch time) and his parents always eat around dinner time so we can always be there for dinner at both and we've learned to eat based on the house (my parents do ham, his doesnt so we eat ham at my parents and turkey at his and things like that)

  • I agree with you on this one. They have to understand theres 2 sides to the family!
