The concert was AWESOME!!!

OMG, yesterday was the 2nd happiest day of my life. Rarely do I have a smile so genuine I can't stop it and I am just giddy, but yesterday it appeared again.

So Dh and I go tickets to the Megadeth concert in Charlotte as a late anniversary gift to each other. We got there early to be as close as possible bc it was a no seat venue. When we got there, they were selling cds with wristband. If you bought the cd, you got to meet Dave Mustane afterward. So we both bought one.

Then we go in and the floor next to the stage is all still open. We were 3 rows back for the first 2 bands, then we got to the FRONT row for the last act then MEGADETH. We were an arms length away from the band and I got some many awesome pictures. It was incredible. I was massively crushed the whole time and about 3/4 through the set Dh and I had to leave the front row bc I was about to blackout. I am in massive pain today and bruise, but it was worth it.

So the show ends and it's signing time. I go up and I am just awestruck but pulled through. Here's our convo.

Dave: Hey, how are you?

Me (smiling uncontrollably like a giddy school girl): Great! You put on a great show!!

Dave (Looks up and me and smiles): Thanks

Me: I was in the front row for a while, but then my ribs got crushed and I had to bail.

Dave: Well you should have come on stage.

Me: Oh I totally would have!!!!

Dave: What's your name sweetie.

Me: Ashley

Dave: Ash...

Me: ley. Thank you sooooo much!!!

I am the only person her asked name for the cd. The rest he just signed (including DH). Dh got to talk to him and thank him for his perserverance and Dave actually smiled and shook DH's hand and thanked him for the words.

It was incredible!!!!!! Also, I made one of DH's life goals come true -- meet one of his idols (and apparently have his wife be hit on my one of them too (or so he jokes lol)).

Re: The concert was AWESOME!!!

  • Sounds like you had an amazing time!

  • hehehe you are too funny!

Megadeth and Suicidal Tendancies was my first arena concert when I was in 8th grade!

Dave Mustane actually lives here in AZ, or at least he did. When I was with the Ex, his family had season tickets to the Coyotes (AZ Hockey team) And Daves seats were directly across the ice from us. We would totally taunt him whenever GnR or some other metal band would come on we would rock out to them and point at Dave LOL.

  • Sounds like an awesome time!  Glad you had fun!

He is one of the BEST guitarists of all time.

However, he is Fugly to put it simply. He has long, curly blond hair, big lips like Angelina, and track marks all over him. I just appreciate his work.

Meeting him was meeting someone of true greatness. Not only is he an incredible musician, but his passion and commitment are inspiring.

^^ Anyone that doesn't know this band or Dave Mustane. Here's the story of why I love him.

He was in Metallic originally. He wrote most of their music and songs and was incredible. He quit the band. Metallica kept all of his songs and became unbelievably famous. He created Megadeth and struggled for fame. He is now most famous bc of Guitar Hero. Through all of it, he stuck with music (even after he was in an accident and shattered his arm having to relearn guitar completely) and always stayed true to himself. Although it took years for him to get past it, he finally realized that the true fans he has and not selling out is much better than all the fame.
