Re: Game Stations

  • Who is it for? What age?
  • My husband..so 30. LOL Smile
  • So do you want to play with him? Ever?

Do you have a DVD player? Is it blueray? do you want blueray?

  • ugh.

We have a wii and a xbox 360.  He wants the PS3, but I'm not happy about it.

  • We have a Wii and an Xbox 360.  I never, ever, ever play the XBox.  I hate the controllers, they are too big for my hands.  So when/if we play a game together, we play the Wii.  I LOVE my Wii, so my vote would be for that, but I don't know how much your husband would like it.  Hah.  My husband doesn't mind it, but it certainly doesn't have the shoot 'em up games that the Xbox seems to have.

  • We have a Wii, xbox360 and a PS3.  As far as playing games, he uses the 360 most for games, but we get the most use out of the ps3.  We use the PS3 for a blueray player and he streams video from the computer to it, and we have a disk to download netflix immediately and watch them. I got him the PS3 for Christmas 2 years ago and he says it is the best gift I have ever bought him.

  • How have you avoided your DH getting one of these yet?! Tell me your secret!

  • Thanks, I might play sometimes. We do have a DVD player but do not have Blue Ray.
  • Another thing to consider are the specific games your DH might want to play. Mine plays Halo, which is only available on the XBox, so that's what we have. We can also stream Netflix through the XBox, which is so awesome. We have had Netflix for almost a year and have the basic package (one DVD at a time and streaming) and have not used Blockbuster in all that time. I know the PS3 now has Netflix.

We also have a Wii, which was specifically for me. DH likes to play some games with me, but he prefers the XBox for the types of games he can play. One downside to the Wii is that it does not play DVDs like the other systems.

We do not have a PS3, but if the games he plays were available on it, we would have gotten that over the XBox for the BlueRay.

  • So it's basically been said here in a few places on this thread, but here's my opinion. If you know specifically the kinds of games he likes, it might be easier to pick the right system.

The XBOX, as mentioned, has Halo and other exclusively Microsoft games. It has the online function to play against his friends if they are gamers too. I've never tried the netflix thing, but you can set up a wireless connection or directly connect your internet to the Xbox. I have a wireless network set up here (that's an additional purchase that doesn't come standard) and I can share photos/videos/music between all of my networked computers and play them on the tv.

PS3 - this is the winner if you need/want a blueray player. It's got a nice mix of games.

wii - Forgive me, but this isn't really a true gamers system. It's more geared towards the Mario Kart crowd. More playful kinds of games and options such as Wii Fit and that kind of thing. You can find Mario games only on this since it's by Nintendo. There are some fighting games here, but it's more limited than the above systems. But if you are interested in playing this would probably be a good starter system for you.

    Does that help ? :)
