What a mess! So it turns out that Paul got me a Wii for Christmas. He bought it back in August. This came out after dicussing a whole other issue. Anyway, soooo after finding this out we had a little "conversation".
Me: You got me a Wii?
Paul: Yes
Me: But you asked for an Xbox 360 for Christmas
Paul: yeah, so
Me: YOu don't think that buying two expensive gaming systems in one year is a bit much?
Paul: No they are totally different
Me: But they are gaming systems. And both would be like $600. You asked for it after knowing that you already got me a Wii.
Paul: Yes, but they are different and I won't play the Wii.
Me: But.. ![]()
There is no way in God's green earth that I will allow our money to go towards not only one frivalous game system (that will probably collect more dust than actual play time) but two. I am sad that I now know what my gift is. I am happy about the Wii... but truth be told, I would have rather gotten him the Xbox. ::sigh::
I hope he enjoys his lawnmower
Re: F/U to practical versus fun gift
yeah that wouldn't fly in my household, that's like saying "honey i'm getting you a 32 in tv for your side of the room, i'd like you to get one for my side, that way we can watch different shows"
With two systems you are definitely cutting down playing time on one because i'm sure you will probably setting it up to the same tv. He is trying to pull boy logic, boy logic is never sane.
I hope he enjoys his lawnmower... geez.
LOL This made me laugh.
I agree they are 2 totally different systems. We have both. Art bought the Xbox when it first came out and we bougt the Wii last yr. You will have a GREAT time with the Wii.
take it from the girl who's husband has had ALL 3 major gaming systems...you do not need more than one.
we first had just a wii. it got a lot of use for a while, but then just started collecting dust.
he then bought and xbox 360 without telling me. the wii got played even less, and it eventually got sold.
he then bought a PS3 without telling me. ever since then the xbox has been played no more than 2 times. and he plays the PS3 a few times a month.
they're way overrated and mostly a waste of money in my opinion. the systems themselves are expensive enough, but then you have to buy games that are 50-60 dollars apiece? no thanks.
lol well.. at least it helped with your decision.
We have both but thats because Serg is more of an xbox guy and the games for wii are not really his style. I have never touched the xbox but the games are definetely more geared towards a different style of player. But yeah you and Paul probably wont play either as much as they're worth. My suggestion for wii is get the used games as often as possible. Its not worth buying new games and they have to check the discs before the sell them anyway. Sometimes I dont even bother and I rent a game if im not sure if i like it or not
Tell Paul to pop over here with his lawnmower while hes at it
I have to agree they are totally different
I play the WII quue a bit and I never ever touch the Xbox but Kevin plays it all the time. The WII is awesome though!!!
They are definitely different systems...I love our Wii, though I do not play it anymore. Steve, however, LOVES his XBox...we really do not play them a whole lot anymore...Steve is on his XBox more just b/c he loves NCAA, which comes out every year.
Wii is good for family games...XBox is better for, well, "boy" games...haha. At least that is the case in our house.
I think a lawnmower is a fine gift. Gets the boy outta the house instead of parked in front of the tv...:)
So glad that I voted on the lawnmower...what a pooper. It's okay Gerrie about the Xbox...you're better off buying it when he least expects it. Our Wii was awesome and fun in the beginning, but we never play it. We mainly use it for Rock Band whenever we have parties...and that's a lot of karoke fun.
Besides, having the lawnmower will help define his guns and keep him fit ....that's sexy right? woot woot!
I can't really talk. We have all 3 major gaming systems and they all get pretty regular use. I even have games for me for all 3 systems. And we have a DS and a Gamecube.
We're gamers though. But, we're both gamers and we play the games together. And we have friends over all the time for guitar hero/rockband nights. Its fun. But if you're not into it it probably wouldn't be fun for you.
I will say that we didn't buy all 3 consoles in the same year. We got the 360 the year it came out, we bought the PS3 from a friend when they upgraded them (our friend got the upgraded version) and the Wii last year so we did space them out. As much as I love video games, even I wouldn't but them all in the same year.
And, this way, you'll have a pretty yard
